1.8 BetaSolstheim DLC discussion Thread - #21

Post » Mon Oct 22, 2012 5:39 pm

I prefer Dagoth Ur myself, but I have to admit that Jagar Tharn would be more interesting to see again in some form or another.
If done properly his very presence could bring some new coherence to the series, if you know what I mean.
The events of TES I are a bit "underrepresented" in the following games.

If Jagar Tharn comes back as a Dragon Priest, or Lich again.

He melted into a puddle after the Jewel of Fire was touched by The Eternal Champion. There is no coming back from that.

Are we talking about Jagar Tharn, Dagoth Ur, or some other BAMF? Also, Miraak REALLY sounds like a Dragon Priest. Which means that I might get my clutches on a really powerful mask. Or maybe he guides the Dragonborn on his journey and makes him completely awesome?

Jagar Tharn was a Lich.. Dragon Priests are really just Liches... So it is possible.. (He might look like a Dragon Priest but wont be one, mainly because he isn't a Nord. He is a Breton).

Meh, I guess he had style, I prefer Dagoth Ur...
Spoiler
I liked Matthias (was that his name?) in Oblivion's Dark Brotherhood questline.

Don't underestimated the power of a soul... Just because one body is destroyed doesn't mean another can be used.

Is Jagar Tharn Voldemort now?

Now you are getting somewhere (Tbh, he is my favorite villain).

~Edit~

It make sense...

If Jagar Tharn comes back as a Dragon Priest, or Lich again.. His name might be Miraak (He was allied to the Emperor and a guide, right?).. Also the DLC's name is Dragonborn so it has to be surrounded on the character some-how... And Jagar Tharn might be it.. He wanting to kill us cause we are the Dragonborn (A possible Emperor in his eyes)..

Herma-Mora's Realm could be used to bring him back OR could be used to figure out where a long lost artifact is that we will need to defeat him.. OR could be used for us to learn about his past.. You know?

All of this can be connected... And we can use "Divarth Fyr" of the Telv Tower to get to HM's realm..

To this day we do not know exactly where Tharn imprisoned Uriel Septim.
Only that it was "a dimension of his choosing".
Maybe he had a pact with Hermaeus Mora?
I always thought Uriels dreams about the Oblivion Crisis were the aftermath of his experiences during the imprisonment. Maybe he read the wrong books? ;)

Of course that's just speculation, but quite interesting.

IMO, Mannimarco was a much better villain than Jagar Tharn... god haven't played Arena in seems like a century.

He could have stored his soul in something before he died.

Also Jusey, can you bring up any text saying Jagar was a Lich, I can't find that. Also, IIRC he was a Breton, Dark Elf mix. (Screw the mother traits rule. :P)

Random idea... The Miraak Temple... Miraak means something about alliance in the dragon language, right? So that might be something to do with a Dragon Priest, or Lich... Right? What if some powerful mage (Like Divarth Fyr.. Can't spell his name) maybe did something in the library within Herma-Mora's realm? Maybe he got something powerful and maybe brought back someone who wants revenge on the Empire? Someone who might've been a Lich and his 'life' is in the temple, and he is allying himself with dragons? Maybe he wants to kill the Last Dragonborn (us) because he counts you as a threat, and possible 'Emperor' for the Empire?

I hope someone knows who I am talking about... Someone who was an enemy of the Empire, hated the Emperor, and had a bunch of creatures as allies.
Cool idea, but I still think Miraak Temple will be the headquarters of secret order of dragon riders (an alliance of dragons and humans) formed during the Dragon War to challenge Alduin's power. We know there were other dragons besides Paarthurnax who supported the humans, but we don't really know what happened to them.

Um. Both are similar because both are Liches... So....

He could have stored his soul in something before he died.

Maybe... Or maybe (Another idea) he has connections with Divarth Fyr? (Like what if Divarth Fyr helped him pick a dimension for the Emperor, hm?)

Well.. He wasn't a Full-Lich quite yet... More like a WIP one. (He did store his life force into an object which is part of the process... Remember the hourglass in Oblivion DBH quest?)

Good point.
Somewhere we have to learn to proper way to ride a Dragon into combat.

Highly unlikely since we've been to Solstheim before and never saw this Miraak Temple. It has to been recent.

The gem. He has to be near it and when you destroyed it, he melted. Best way to kill a Lich-in-process.

The gem held his life force, but it never says explicitly that Jagar was a Lich or becoming one.
