Bethesda bought S.T.A.L.K.E.R.?

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 3:39 pm

So I am hearing on /v/ that Bethesda bought S.T.A.L.K.E.R. IS there any truth in it? Also does anyone know Russian because this is being called the http://stalker-gsc.ru/news/s_t_a_l_k_e_r_2_novosti_prodolzhenie/2012-04-25-1764.

This is a translation that someone did don't know if its true since no russian.
"I understand that this conception will be not interesting for many gamers. I decided to remove all the work. Announcement will not be shown instead, all that the team managed to do without me. STALKER brand into the hands of Bethesda games. I'm leaving the game development - fed up with ..."

Google translate got me this:

"A few days ago we agreed to an interview with Michael Razumov, which was held today in the online.

(Spravka. Michael Razumov. CEO and owner of "Z.O.V. Khabar")

In the morning we are in touch with Michael, so, in particular, one can obtain some information about events happening around the STALKER Two. and GSC Game, in particular. The information is very scarce and fragmentary, however, the state of affairs at the moment we found out the following.

Statement by Sergei Grigorovich

"I realized that this concept is the stalker will not be of interest to many players and decided to remove all the work. Announcement will not be shown instead, all that the team managed to do without me. STALKER brand into the hands of Bethesda games. I'm leaving the game development - fed up with ... "
Please note that the statement of S. Grigorovich is not positioned as an official. If it turns out the failure of the news, we will publish a mandatory disclaimer.

Then it became known that the STALKER team is preparing an appeal to continue the project without the participation of Sergei Grigorovich!

Stay with us! And you'll learn everything from the first one!"

There was some different news on STALKER earlier.

http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/04/25/stalker-2-dead-again-but-now-theres-survarium/

Which is a real shame, I want another STALKER. Not some MMO.

But it seems unlikely that with the original STALKER devs willing to create a sequel that whoever owns the STALKER license would sell it to Bethesda.

I read that, and honestly it's fracking awesome. I'll be getting it for sure, I haven't been able to play the STALKER game very much but does seem like a very interesting universe. And Survarium just looks and sounds like it's going to be something that will hopefully bring them into the spotlight.

Honestly, this svcks. It seems that GSC got locked out by their publisher (which would be THQ). Its this kind of stuff that has caused so many people to do their Kickstarter stuff.

I wish them the best of luck. It's a shame we'll never see STALKER continued by the folks who knew the series best.

If Bethesda did get a hold of it, I can only hope they can match even half of the vision created by GSC.

The first comment confirms it's fake, so no one has to worry.

They have made their own company Vostok Games, so dont feel to bad. Survarium sounds interesting to and I'm sure they'll be able to make money off that for other games. Here http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Kl812VZv9VI. And I'm sure Bethesda will make a good game, it'll be different from the previous but still.

I actually just watched that (found it posted on the STALKER forums). Yes, it does sound pretty awesome. The idea of a world-wide Zone-like area is really cool. I'll keep an eye on them, because I really do believe they're some of the most talented developers in the world.

I have no interest in MMO's, in fact it seems most of the STALKER fans I know have no interest in this because it's an MMO.

Oh, believe me, I would prefer it be a single player experience.

However, I think a multiplayer STALKER-like experience could be totally awesome, so long as they STAY FAR FAR FAR away from normal MMO gameplay mechanics. Personally, I imagine it like STALKER but with buddies. If they do it properly, it could be a blast to stalk around the huge Zone with your allies covering your back. I would hope they have unrestricted PVP so that you can get into firefights with other groups.

Aside from me personally having practically no interest in MMO's, the things that made Stalker great seem to be just about the least suitable for an MMO environment.

And if they go international like what they are saying it'll open up what they can do like they said. Some of the concept art looks really interesting, I liked the stuff that looks like it could be some sort of power armor. I wonder where they will end up setting it as that will be a major influence on the game.

Well, if the game has open PVP like I want, then you can just cap them and move on! :D

Fallen Earth didn't have PvP did it, I have played a little of it now that it's gone free and can't seem to kill anyone that's a player. I wonder of there will be vehicles in it, and I'm really hoping for a survival aspect to it.

I see, I guess that helps stop [censored]s from sitting outside the respawn areas and killing people as they spawn.

Its /v/ so its most likely BS.

I hope its BS anyway. Bethesda already [censored] one series set in a radioactive hell.
