Bethesda's Harsh Crackdown

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 11:58 am

Yeah the 20 min video is exactly what Todd already leaked and described. But like I said in another thread I don't pay the bills here so I won't complain too much about it.

I'm actually glad I missed the leaked footage! :P

I've already spoiled a lot for myself just by being on these forums in these last few days. Even when I said I wouldn't look at leaked stuff, I do. I'm happy to have some mystery to the game for me to find on my own :D

Deleting the videos as they come up can't really be called "harsh"

If they started legally perusing the people who uploaded the videos than maybe it could be called a harsh crackdown.

agreed, that would be a little over the top.

I can understand them wanting control over their material pre release. Videos on youtube can be posted at poor quality, giving an incomplete picture of the actual game.

I would not be surprised if someone at Bethesda is currently trying to find out which journalist it was that broke the NDA. You may think it's 'over the top' but at the end of the day that person broke a legally binding contract, which isn't very professional to say the least.

I only let myself watch 30 seconds but I hear the guy playing it was terrible, haha. Pretty unprofessional to break a contract and leak footage IMO. I'd like to find out who it was and what site he worked for.

We'll never know that. It's pretty easy to stay anonymous on the web.

No you're just a normal human being, lacking the nerd rage that most youtube commenters tend to have.

Actually one of the videos didn't have a single negative comment. Guess there are more normal humans than we thought ^_^

It's because the game has not been legally distributed world wide (apart from the reviews) and these reviews were obligated not to release footage before release whether its a spoiler or not. They broke that, so Bethesda removed the video. I wouldn't call that "harsh" at all, its just the removal of a video, not legal action. Any released footage is to be from Bethesda themselves.

Anyway. I was smart about it, downloaded it ;)

I am not sure why Bethesda is cracking down so hard on leaked intro footage
Because it's an unauthorized leak. Don't talk about leaks :nono:
