Indeed, this works and is my usual tactic.
I actually went to the trouble of playing 2 identical characters for 10 hours each, and followed (as best I could) the exact same course of action with both of them - but with one collecting & storing junk drops, the other one simply leaving them there. At the 10 hour mark, one file is 1.5MB larger than the other. Obviously it's not an entirely accurate test for a variety of reasons, but it does point towards an easy potential performance fix - not to mention the aesthetic improvement - I HATE seeing all that junk on the landscape. Surely raiders etc. would loot it, especially outdoors?
Let's not bash Gstaff, there's only so much he can do - but it would be nice if the devs dropped in now and then just to say 'we've noted your issue/thread/whatever and are looking into it'. The most frustrating thing about communicating with Bethesda is that you never really know if they're even listening.
No, lets bash gstaff. He is the only resource that beth has proffered up and he is inadequately responding to the customer base.
He is a paid employee, and our dollars are paying him
RIGHT NOW, who is supposed to be fulfilling this role - to the best of my knowledge. We may not have his job description and PMOs listed in front of us but have been told that he is 'the man' here.
So yeah, I say unload on him as that is our only recourse. We get zero response/feedback etc so whose fault is that? Well its Gstaff's.
If he can not keep up then either 1) replace him with someone more capable or 2) hire additional support staff.
I don't believe Gstaff is incompetent or incapable, but I don't
SEE evidence of response to the customer base either so I am left to judge him as apathetic. There is no way I'm going to be convinced by the paltry response cycle here that he is so overwhelmed by the flood of information here he can't respond with a 'noted, forwarded to development team'.
