Lol! I'm not the only one! Yes! When I first started the game I sprinted into a room only to have the room explode a hurl a cup at my head..killing me instantly.

You have to open the doors SAS style to the side
but then...[insert family guys quagmire theme]

"thats Bethesda,thats Bethesda"

Y'know what I'd love? An AI system that automatically places things around your house based on value and importance. For example, you buy a house and tell your housecarl to display your new dwemer shield you just found, and leave for a few hours, and when you return s/he's found a place that is out of the way but visible, and placed it there. From then on, it sticks there and resets to that position if it gets moved!

It would take some work, but it could end up being pretty sweet in the end.

Took the time to decorate my house with some items I took from a Dwemer ruin. The next time I enter, everything I placed was on the floor. Pretty annoying.

Valuable lesson for real life. Don't make a mess, YOU have to clean it up. Or just reload (buy new apartment)
