Bethesda oversight in regards to player housing

Post » Sat May 12, 2012 1:21 pm

So I drop my controller (360 version) and I accidentally Shout whilst in my house. Knocked EVERYTHING over. Things are sprawled all over the house. Upstairs and down. I have every decoration purchased (Breezehomme) and it's all gone to waste. I feel like this is a huge oversight. The moment you leave your house all purchased decorations should reset back to their default locations. Any "decorations" you placed with items found throughout the world wouldn't reset. Only items and dressings that a part of the package decoration deal. I mean...everything is ruined. It's a complete waste of time and money.

This should not be a problem. If you brought a skull in from the outside world and set it someplace, it wouldn't reset. If you moved a cup that was a part of the decoration package, IT would reset, but this could be offset by just not moving it and putting a freaking cup you found in the WORLD wherever you want.

I just feel like this would be an easy fix and should have come boxed. I liked my home. It was kind of neat having a place like that in-game. Now it's just upsetting and I don't even want to go in there anymore.

I understand you'd like your stuff to be back how it was, but I don't see why anyone else would think this should happen. If I make my house a certain way, it should stay that way always. I can imagine how many people would be upset to see their house reset when they enter it each time.

Reload indeed. Its still a major pain in the ass to decorate your home though. Took me 15 mins to place a skull on the book shelf. Finally I said [censored] it and just started making piles.

Tried it. Only 3 autosaves. None of which have the house in an undamaged condition.

You didn't read what I said. I said any items you placed that aren't a part of the decoration packages wouldn't be reset. If you moved a pot that IS a part of the decoration package it will reset. If you really want a pot in that particular spot that WON'T reset, go outside...turn left or right. Walk 10 seconds. Grab pot. Profit.

My house is a mess. I grabbed some dwemer plates and cups and stuff and tried to put them on the shelves. Spent about five minutes doing it and made a total wreck of the place. Oh well. I'm glad it doesn't reset. At least the chests are full of loot.

Yeah that's ridiculous. The collision detection and "physics" of dressings is ridiculous.

Step 1: Walk out of the house
Step 2: Walk back into the house

Congrats! All purchased decorations from the steward have reset. All items NOT part of the decorations purchased from the steward have remained in their spots!

Profit!

on another note, i was dissapointed with my house in solitude.

no display cases or weapon racks to place those weapons you find? its one of the main reasons i even bother getting the most expensive house....

granted i havent done the basemant yet, i guess thats where the enchanting and alchemy labs are placed.

I spent probably about an hour decorating my little dungeon abode. I place well over 100 separate gems in various containers, had an entire basket filled and then some. Place a few furs around, troll skulls, a nice silver dining set, some dragon scales and bones, and various other things I had picked up by then. After setting it all up I decided to go do something productive, but when I returned..oh the horror... Everything, and I mean everything was scattered. (Somehow the basket with gems ended up on the other side of the room on top of a wardrobe...) So I pretty much just said F it for now in hopes that it might get fixed eventually..

They don't reset. That's the point of my post. I wish they made it so it DID reset.

Breeze home is cute, I sold EVERYTHING I could pickup and just use it as a storage shed for my gear. I plan on having a nicer larger home in the near future. Also... Sneezing is dangerous anywhere.

i spent ages tring to put item in a book shelf, only to relise that you 'open' the book shelf like a cupboard or a chest and place books in it, which i now really like as it was always a real pain to put books neatly in older games.

i would not want things to re set as i have moved a lot of the things that came in the house around to make space for new things, all the old stuff is still there so if it re set it would move/disrupt all the stuff i have put in there.

on another note, has anyone worked out how to put things in weapon racks? (am on an xbox if that makes any difference)

Equip the weapon like you're going to use it, then activate the weapons rack.

All of you guys getting your houses wrecked are getting pranked by Gerdur's kid. The one that wants to turn stump in to a frostbite spider. He warned you, but you didn't listen.
