Bethesda Should Do What Naughty Dog have done

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 5:16 pm

Read this:

http://www.giantbomb.com/news/how-smart-uncharted-fans-changed-naughty-dogs-game/3816/

Naughty Dog brought in two fans to explain and articulate the problem in Uncharted 3 aiming in single player which then helped them patch it (patch due out soon).

THAT is how you build relationships with your fans.

Both RockSteady & Bethesda have released games with crippling bugs and have said very little or have NOT interacted with their fans.

Take a lesson from Naught Dog Bethesda!

Lol my dear friend...you are joking right?

The guys here dont even SPEAK to us, or acknowledge us... bringing some peasant from over here to their Great Hall in front of the king's throne?

BLASPHEMY!!

No...seriously... dont expect bethesda to even remotely do something like that, like ever... they simply get an F (as in FAIL) when it comes to costumer support/understanding.

Naughty Dog is a one in the million shot... best developper ever to be honest...they actually care about their quality and their fans...wish more were like them...

Sad, but true....

There's a name I recognise. *waves @ homerjnick*

ND are in a different league when it comes to game support. As previously stated they care immensely about their reputation and the enviable role they hold as the top PS3 exclusive developer studio, so it's no surprise they did this.

Beth seem to take a different route, namely drawing back into their little ecosystem and ignoring that the PS3 even exists. They have little or no customer relations worth speaking about and refuse to make public statements about problems with their game (short of non-specific tweets). While having a select few PS3 users specifically test/record certain aspects which they need to investigate would be the correct move, Beth have to suffice with silently trawling the forum trying to pick out the worthwhile information from the other 99% of non-constructive gibber jabber.

They made Batman and the DLC corrupting/gamedata bug on the PS3 and the missing saves on the XBox are crippling that game and they are also very poor at PR...

But that's not what this was about, it's about how Naughty Dog treat their customers, compared to Bethesda. Naughty Dog 10 Bethesda 0 lol

They should have had a small group of fans to come in and test the game. How many people here would go out of their way to go to Bethesda's studio and play a Beta version of Skyrim for a couple of days months before it came out (so it wouldn't leak)? Answer: A lot. I live in Bermuda, thousands of miles away from Bethesda, I would have gladly taken a vacation for two weeks to play that game. lol

I'm with you on that one and I live in New Zealand lol. But this brings to the surface another question did the beta testers actually play this game to break it like they are supposed to, or did Bethesda just ignore it when they told them about the problems?

Yeah actually the development team behind "Little Big Planet" is just like Naughty Dog: They care for their fans.
When they delayed LBP2, they did it to be fair to all the fans that have no internet-connection whatsoever and therefore aren't able to load bug-fixes.

Bethesda? Lol ... their philosophy seems to be: Grab the money first, ask questions later

Companies I've seen with good Customer relations:
Naughty Dog
Media Molecule
svcker Punch
Deep Silver
Rockstar
VALVe

Companies I've seen with bad Customer relations:
Bethesda
Obsidian
Rockstar (It's really an on/off thing with them)
High Moon
Activision
Treyarch
2K Games
Santa Monica
SEGA
Capcom

It's not often you find a company with good PR, but when you do, it's great.

I've never really played a BioWare game (more than like 20 minutes at least).

It is nice when you find a company with good customer relations though, isn't it? Take Deep Silver, for instance. They're the developers of Dead Island. When they found out about a good number of game-breaking glitches, they flew fast to put out a patch that actually managed to fix a lot of problems. Then, as an apology, they put out another patch that not only gave the player 10 more levels to level up through, but new weapon mod recipes, better item finds, and improved quest rewards. There was no paid DLC, you just got it free in a patch.

Yeah it really is, I mean on BioWare's official forums, you tend to get replies from people actually at BioWare fair enough it is a smaller up-and-coming company but they update the games with patches pretty regularly when needed.

Wow that amazing and a really great thing for them to do, although I couldn't play more than 5 mins of Dead Island (due to it being boring for me, and I don't really like first person games lol) that is still a really great thing for them to do for their customers, shame Bethesda don't do stuff like that...
