BGSF Newcomer Tips

Post » Fri Sep 21, 2012 1:45 pm

Hey guys,

So, a lot of us have been here a while, but there were some things we had to get used to in order to fit in. There are some things the rules don't tell you. Luckily for the newbie's, they'll have this thread. ;)

So, what tips would you give to someone who just joined BGSF?

I'll start:

1 - Avoid the newly released game sections of the forum.
2 - Don't argue with anyone when they say Morrowind is better. You'll be virtually stoned by the majority of the forum.
3 - Don't ask for financial advice.
4 - Don't ask for medical advice.
5 - When in doubt, JAHO.

Continue...

Don't join in platform wars. It's not worth the time they waste.

Read and heed the stickied rules.

Thought that would have been number one!

No one is allowed to butt hurt... punctuation and grammar are appreciated... stay the hell away from the game sections.

As a new member I spent a lot of time checking out the forums. Two things I have learned, stick to the forum rules and if you don't, beware of the Bear.

If someone says something you disagree with, just laugh and read something else.

Any criticism of Skyrim is invalid too
No no, quite the opposite. Claims of disappointment and other apathetic feelings towards Skyrim are a must on these forums.

Don't post ponies.
Your avatar is in direct violation of this rule! I sentence you to be stoned by cupcakes.

You can post cats all you want, though. I would right now, but I want to post pictures of shirtless black metal band members holding sandwiches more.

Avoid talking about ponies outside of the pony thread. That means you too, non-bronies.
Never attempt to start an argument.
If you never got your Bethesda Game Studios Forums Approved Fishystick, then you must get one immediately.

Don't be rude.
And if someone is rude towards you, don't be rude back. Just report the post and don't reply.

But having a Halloween and Christmas variation is encouraged.

This a thousand times, even if I break it. I recognize so many people not by their names, but by their avatar. It's just faster :twirl:

Remember that there is (for both good and bad) a rather "sheltered" mindset. Not quite sterile but there's a lack of spontaneity and chaos.

The most important thing to remember is that the rules are arbitrary and that the moderators have absolute authority in every case.

Just thought I'd throw in some more. :P

- Spare us your "new game ideas", we've heard them all before and there's a reason it's not an actual game.

- You don't have to quote the OP when posting.

- Dont type your sig. at the bottom of posts, just add it to the actual signature panel.

- Use the default font. You're not a unique snowflake.

- Never admit to using Apple or Alienware. You will be murdered.

But do use quotes elsewhere. They're very good for helping track the thread of a thread.
