Bioshock infinate "1999 mode"

The degradation rate in Fallout was reasonable though. In SS2 my weapons were breaking constantly. I constantly found myself resorting to melee or else just running through areas as fast as I could.
never had a problem myself. once again maintenence tools. but if you dont have maintenence tools then there is always melee weapons, psi powers, stealth or simply running away (you know, a tactic that was forced on you in survival horrors like resident evil and silent hill?)
That's what I did too in the end. Also toned down the constantly respawning enemies. Infinite enemies plus a fixed total amount of ammo is not fun.
enemy respawn rate is dependant on difficulty level, in easy there is none, in normal mode it is reasonable.

Easy mode in SS2 is harder than hard mode in both Bioshocks though.
but bioshock had no difficulty really since you could never die/no consequence at all for dying.

I read it as "Had a big argument earlier, hearing this news cheered me right up", and I get the impression you read it somewhat differently (that the argument was had something to do with Bioshock).
I read it the same way as you, but the fact that he "doesn't give a [censored]" about having a big argument with his girlfriend just because BioShock Infinite is going to be harder seems weird to me.

But in both Bioshocks I NEVER died. Not once. Never used a Vita-Chamber. At least on normal difficulty anyway.

I should add that I'm not giving out about SS2 - I loved that game and thoroughly enjoyed it's challenges.

I really hope this inspires other developers to create classic modes of their own. Like if Bethesda makes a "1996" or "2002" mode in TES VI.

really? i saw my fair share of deaths...probably just as much as system shock 2 in all honesty, but it was no fun without any consequence for dying. you could just beat down a big daddy with a wrench if you had the patience

good im glad, but you must have got the wrong end of the stick on that games design at some point. it is a survival horror. there is alternatives than just guns too, but for myself its guns all the way!

indeed. but remember fallout:NV is another FP/RPG that has a hardcoe mode. well actually thats a different kind though, but better than nothing, i mostly like it because it makes it so health regens over time rather than just repeatedly using stimpacks=full health.

I wasn't very good at it. It wasn't till about half-way through that I began to understand the mechanics. Subsequent replays were better however. :P
