Only proves Blizzard isn't what they used to be, best tell everyone to move on to Torchlight II or this other game I found a while ago that looks like what D3 should have been.

No they don't.

Yawn. Same [censored] as with the "accounts getting hacked even with authenticators" [censored] at release. People claim to have had it happen, but in every case they added the auth after to make it seem like it wasn't their fault, or had it set to only require it once per week when logging into a game.

Looks like someone was cheating and tried to make out he got banned for using WINE.

Just Windows on another partition and dual boot.
Been there, done that, was annoying enough that I ended up not using Windows much and eventually dropped the idea entirely. I am hoping to do some fanciness with Xen, but it'll probably be little while yet before I get around to that.

[I don't even play Diablo III :hehe:]

Diablo 3=D3=DDD=Diablo: Daily Disasters

Everything makes perfect sense now, hey? They were aiming to have something go wrong every day, but they're so incompetent that they're only managing fortnightly issues .

Has anyone here read through that thread the OP posted? The amount of intelligence there is abysmally low, I'm glad I'm here at BGSF rather than over there. Just because Linux isn't supported, doesn't mean it's not allowed. Since when can using an OS even relate to a possible ban? Some people just don't get it, people paid 60 dollars for the game. What, does the money devalue to almost nothing because they use a different OS? This whole situation is disgusting.

That money devaluates to nothing because he was cheating or trolling. Maybe it's a problem with Warden but if it was then he just needs patience as it'll get sorted out. But I don't trust these people making claims about Blizzard after the outcry of being hacked with and without authenticators claiming it's a problem server side which it wasn't.

Reading through any long thread on the battle.net forums puts the reader at risk of serious IQ regression.

If Linux isn't supported by them, then they have every right to not let you use it.

I'd probably ban Linux users from my game as well.
Why?

People actually play games on Linux?
Yes - and the future is looking up for us, since Valve has been working hard on porting both Steam and Source to Linux. That'll undoubtedly do a lot to expand the market in our direction.

If Linux isn't supported by them, then they have every right to not let you use it.
This is sort of like saying "Hammer Company A doesn't support Nail Company B, so they have every right to magically ban you from hammering brand B nails."

That's not the way software works, bud.

Besides Bashiok made a blue post explicitly saying all banned Linux users were actually cheating, no one was banned for using Linux. He said using Linux will not get you banned, cheating will.

We’ve extensively tested for false positive situations, including replicating system setups for those who have posted claiming they were banned unfairly. We’ve not found any situations that could produce a false positive, have found that the circumstances for which they were banned were clear and accurate, and we are extremely confident in our findings.

Playing the game on Linux, although not officially supported, will not get you banned – cheating will.

This exact same thing happened to WoW players using WINE, as I recall...

Yep and Blizzard was saying the same thing back then too IIRC.

So it's more complicated than we thought.

Well, it would really help if Blizzard would tell us how those Linux users were cheating, though. I mean, are we supposed to believe that their system isn't faulty just because they told us so? On numerous past occasions (not necessarily involving blizzard) corporations have made "extremely confident" statements like this only to be proven completely wrong by the end. So you have to wonder what kind of information they're basing this statement off of.

You use it for one, so does my neighbour.
The relevance of this statement escapes me.

You don't use Linux.
So? It's still a faulty business practice.
Ohh you're one of those people...

I don't care for Blizzard or Diablo players or Linux. Though whats Blizzard and Activision merging got to do with it?

I'm still waiting to see how that whole http://www.cinemablend.com/games/Diablo-3-RMAH-Fraud-Claims-Gets-FBI-Involved-44151.html thing plays out.

Edit:

(Update: The alleged victim has come clean and states that it was all a lie and he never called the FBI.)

Oh, well, there you have it.

Makes me less inclined to believe these Linux claims now too. Not that it matters. I haven't touched the game since I beat it on Normal weeks ago.
