Broken Breezehome wiped out ALL my items...

Post » Mon May 21, 2012 11:16 am

Went into my house in Whiterun, noticed something was off... the wall to the smaller upstairs bedroom was GONE. just a door floating. I just chalked it up to another random bug. Then I checked my upstairs treasure chest. I was getting my Theives Guild Armor
Everything was gone. empty chest. all my loot, all my old armors, all my dragon bones and dragon scales, and of course, my theives guild armor.

I loaded up my previous save, I have 3. Empty chest. Load up my other save, EMPTY CHEST.
[censored]
Is there any way to get my stuff back? I'm just reaching 90 hours. There is NO way in hell I'm replaying 90 hours of game and collecting all that stuff again and doing it all over again and repeating questlines. Is there a chance my inventory is somewhere in Skyrim limbo? The walls in my homes have come back from entering and reentering, but my chest is still empty. I also noticed that all my other storage areas have a few bits of coin and random items in them. These are things I'm sure that I collected and emptied when I first moved in and upgraded. Is there a chance that the game just reset the entire house? Choppy lag I can play through, game crashes I can restart it... but this is gamebreaking. I feel liek someone just broke my game disc.

I just remembered that my apocathryl satchel (don't remember how its spelled) is also empty. i remember dumping all of my random ingredients into that thing a while ago too. and I had a lot of ingredients.

I usually only visit my house whenever I get too full from items, and usually after killing a dragon, to dump off the bones. But since my character kept leveling, and I kept upgrading my stamina and enchanting to carry more weight, my last house visit was probably 5 or more hours ago, and all my save games load up an empty house now.

Please help?!

Wow that's horrible, it does sound like the game reset your whole house.

Thanks for the heads up on the bug.

I had breezehome eat some armor once , about a week ( real time ) later , I re-entered the house and all my missing stuff came flying towards me .
So there is a chance it will come back , but I only had about 5 items missing , not all my stuff , so I don't know .

I know you loaded your previous saves but maybe it's possible that you saved after your equipment disappeared without noticing? If so, it may be gone forever. I try to make a habit of checking my chests before I decide to quit in case something horrible like this happens. I would try reinstalling just for your own sake. Sorry, though. That does svck.

Thanks for the info. Also my armor mount dummies body parts disapear when an item is placed on it. So I said screw that..NOT going to wait to find out if it's going to eat it. So I don't even use them now.
Also Calixto is inside my house ( windhelm) trying to kill me and he's immortal. I cannot believe this game has so many bugs. I'd keep your old save files and make new ones in the hope that playing through a little more your stuff will return.

While I feel for you and your plight -- absolutely svcks -- there is zero (0) possibility the glitch would have affected previous saves. If this glitch occurred, and you exited and re-started Skyrim and then re-loaded a save previous to the one you were operating from when the glitch occurred, there is no reason at all that you would not be just fine.

It affects all my saves. Unless you are part of the bethesda gamer staff, I don't see how you could know how my game is affected. If something happened at my house and I eventually saved over all my games without ever knowing, then I guess all my saves have an empty house.

I'm going to keep playing and start saving for another house, and start saving over new save files, leaving these for now. hopefully this bug fixes itself and all my stuff just reappears in the original house. My dragon bones and scales can be recollected, but alot of the items had sentimental value. My original armor I was saving, some "Oathblade" I had found, various enchanted weapons, I had an evil mace from a deadric prince, and a staff that stole peoples dreams. I had all my books stored in there as well, since I was paranoid that the bookshelves would eat them until the later updates, so i was waiting to get the house with the bigger bookshelves and store my collection there, and store my armors and weapons in the house with the manequins. I thought I was being safe by storing everything in that chest, and avoiding weapon racks and bookshelves until I was positive they were safe to use. What annoys me the most is that the theives guild armor can't be replaced. I've read about people selling their armor and breaking that quest-line, and here I am being extra precautious with my items, and somehow they get all deleted.

I've played the game and its a bit choppy and it crashes randomly here or there (maybe 3 times max), but I have yet to have even 1 quest-line break on me and become incomplete-able. But now I can't bring my theives guild armor back. This will be my first broken quest, and a huge loss to all my collectables. I had all this stuff saved up and planning on setting up my newer bigger houses with, and now its all just gone. All I do now is load up my games, go to whiterun, check my treasure chest, and then exit in defeat. I've tried waiting ingame 30 days, but nothing so far.

My friend told me that if the PS3 version had some way of accessing the game console I could get back the theives guild stuff. I have a USB keyboard... is there any way to access the console command on the PS3 version ? ? ?

Just pretend you were robbed. You don't need all that stuff anyway. Now you can play the role of Macgyver and work with what you have.

Yeah, having all your stuff missing on your previous save doesn't make any sense. If you saved your game with it all there it wouldn't dissapear. It had to be saved with it already missing.

You did say you only go to your house when you get full so it is possible you saved with the stuff already missing and just didn't know it.

As NOT funny as this situation is, for the love of god, if you walk in your house and all your stuff in launched in your face, I'd love to see the video.

It was a bit odd , I chalked it up to Aela being pissed that I had a dude follower and was making her stay at home and cook for me .
It wasn't all my stuff either , just some gauntlets and boots that came flying at me , the other 3 items I found on the floor in Lydias room .

I fell asleep in front of my computer waiting for an answer, do the gamer staff not respond here, or read any posts ? Are these the official forums or a fansite ?
Is the console accessible on the PS3 ? (I googled the answer, but I'm hoping someone at Bethesda magically says the opposite)

PS: I have now tried reinstalling as well as waiting. And I just noticed that Lydia won't follow me because "it seems someone is already following me" or something.
I don't ever remember having anyone following me. WTH?! It feels like my game is falling apart. I never use the companion feature, and I tried it just cause she's the only thing in my house now... but knowing that something else is breaking is making me feel like I can't trust anything in the game anymore.

Does upgrading my house reset the items in it ?

It affects all my saves. Unless you are part of the bethesda gamer staff, I don't see how you could know how my game is affected.

Negative. I don't need to be a Bethesda staffer to know that this is impossible. It's called common sense and years of experience.

If all of your items in your house disappeared, and you exited the game, re-started the game, and then loaded a save OTHER than the one you were operating from when the glitch occurred, it is -- and I'm going to put this on its own line for emphasis here:

****impossible****

...not merely unlikely, or shouldn't be possible, or I don't believe it or whatever, but:

****impossible****

...that it could simultaneously affect each and every one of your previous saves. That can not happen. It is impossible. I don't need a magic 8-ball or clairvoyance or a network of intelligence operatives to know this. It's common sense. It's technologically impossible. I hope I've made myself a bit more clear.

If Bethesda would enable the console...er...on the consoles, that would be very helpful.

Actually... I've had the game state from later games show up in previous saves upon load, with characters and items, several times, when loading from the main screen without quitting the game first. It is why any time that I load a previous save or my character dies, I quit the game and restart the system before loading in the previous save; or in some situations, delete the Game Data, restart and reinstall it.

I've experienced it. Not impossible.

This was my second post:
"I usually only visit my house whenever I get too full from items, and usually after killing a dragon, to dump off the bones. But since my character kept leveling, and I kept upgrading my stamina and enchanting to carry more weight, my last house visit was probably 5 or more hours ago, and all my save games load up an empty house now. "
I'm assuming the game reset my house before any of my last 3 saves. So while I was out doing missions, the house reset. And I kept saving over my saves. Its not that hard to understand. Its not "impossible", its just that you lack reading comprehension or understanding.

Its obvious now the glitch must have occurred before any of my last 3 saves, maybe 5-10 hours ago. So please stop posting pointless crap in my thread and trying to derail it. td

I think the point being made was that the glitched data would not be present in an earlier save game.

Yes you had some odd game state present when you loaded an earlier save, but the data didn't come from the save, just system memory.

Bump!!!

anyways, I have 2 new saves, and more hours into the game. I own a house in riften now. I keep checking back on breezehome, but nothing is coming back. I guess the game just really REALLY did not want me to finish the theives guild questline (or collect any items). Considering that this game was a major release for them, yet how small this forum is, I'm surprised bethesda doesn't have 1 or 2 people come on here monday-friday to answer some questions from customers. Especially considering the huge amount of bugs this game has, and breakable quest-lines.

I had been storing my items in the unupgraded Breezehome for a while, basically everything in that chest next to the bed. When I decided to upgrade it I had that concern. So I saved my game before hand. Nothing disappeared.

So to be safe, when you buy a house, only use it for sleeping not storing or decorating, as when you upgrade it many things can disappear or be glitched. So I recommend upgrading it all the way before you even use the house to be safe. I know, stupid right? Or at least take everything out of the house (inside and outside of containers) when you go to upgrade it. Yes, you will be walking very very slow lol..... I'm just glad the bookshelves are fixed, except for the people continuing the same game after the last patch fixed them, in which they will always have messed up bookshelves they can't use. Bethesda pretty much recommends we start a new game with every patch, as even the patches can just make some things worse so your better off just waiting until patch 1.6 or so to even start playing the game the way it was intended. LOL sarcasm of course... but not really. It just shouldn't be this way. :(
