I dont understand why they dont just make a patch that u can download to continue if u want and keep all ur
stats. seems to like this would solve all this pointless debate over to continue or not. the patch wouldnt have to
include any missions, just a simple continuation of the game.

I don't understand why people can't just postpone beating the game untill there done with the character seems to like this would solve all this pointless debate.

WILL NEVER HAPPEN

So stop being an child and make a save game before entering the final battle.

Anyone who hasn't figured out the game ends when you beat it, or ignores the warning before starting the final mission deserves whatever they get.

This.

These threads never get old.

This.
Ugh...

And.... this.

If you're dumb enough to not read the giant popup and make a seperate save, and then lower that even further by complaining and blaming it on Bethesda... you really don't have any right to complain when it clearly states that you should make a seperate save file.

Stop blaming other people for your own mistakes OP. Does nothing but make you look like an ass hat.

has nothing to do with blame, i just dont think a game with soooo many possible paths and choices should end with one mission,
it a ROLE PLAYING GAME, so let the player continue the role. also as i stated earlier, they should make a patch as an "optional download"
to allow u to continue. if ur one of these crybabies who like the way the game ends...THEN DONT DOWNLOAD IT!

its exactly that reason why they wont continue it. To continue you need to have a difinitive ending for all endings. FO3 only had a game extender beccause you had 2 possible endings. This is easy to create because both leads to the same area, just in one theres one less character. For FNV, you have 4 possible endings, each of which, impacting and changing the Mojave Wasteland in different ways depending on what faction quests you did and didn't do. It's fairly hard to take all that, for all 4 different endings, and make it all converge into one point.

The game ends with 'one mission', as you put it, because that mission marks the end of the Courier's story. What that story is depends on the role you picked for the Courier, so if you don't want that role to end yet, don't finish the game.

By the way, allowing post-MQ play would actually invalidate the role you're so attached to, because it would cease to have any meaning as you would never see the effects of all the decisions you made.

Yep everyone is right... There was a warning before that final mission. After saving 84 game saves thru out the game, because of the freezes and hang ups, i made it to the end because i saved the game often.
After i beat the game i deleted all the saves up to the final mission. I finished the last DLC by backing up to an earlier game save. Now i don't have them. My f up i guess! BUT...

Tell me another game that requires you to back up with an earlier game save in order to play DLC??? One that if you beat the game you can't EVER use DLC without losing progress that you made in the game
already? Fallout 3 before they fixed that!

Laugh all you want its ok... But think about that for a minute... A pop up box that says hey you cant return once you enter this point... Really i cant leave hoover dam, OK. Maybe it should have said, for the idiots like
me, who shouldn't be playing an RPG, Hey dip [censored] if you go past this point you cant use any DLC and you get to start from scratch. An assumption was made that they learned from fall out 3 that after you beat the game
you can still roam the map.

I am not going to start a flaming war with you guys, it's just a simple and obvious flaw. If the majority here thinks its OK that you have to back track to play DLC then that's good enough for me.

I'll just dump a game save onto the xbox from my computer... easy fix.

There's nothing to think about. The majority of people here read the announcement of no Breaking Steel like DLC, so it was expected.

i'm surprised you managed to actually finish the game with just 2 saves, you are goign to need a new char, good news is that the DLC HH is actaully good for low lv alts and you should be hable to get some really good items for the rest of the game ;)
dm will prob be very hard for him tho.

]Finished Fallout Vegas... (took a while with the buggy release)

Have two game saves... Hover Dam (starting final mission) and Legates Camp (end of final mission)

Because i am in the final mission, i am guessing, i can not fast travel anywhere... Therefore unable to got to the Happy Trails Expedition location to use the DLC Honest Hearts!
I finished the last mission again hoping that the game would continue (like the broken steel DLC from Fallout 3... NOPE

I am not willing to start over again from scratch to play the new DLC i paid for, my loss of $9.00, but that's it Bethesda, not a penny more from me.

Bought all the DLC for Fallout 3 and all of the DLC, so far, for New Vegas. My loss because it is one of my favorite game titles, but my experience with this game (all the problems) and
now the fact that i cant play with my original character that i used to beat the game pisses me off.

Bring out a broken steel fix for New Vegas!!!

legates camp is def too late. i think you can still back out of the hoover dam quest. i'm not sure tho, it's been a while since i was at that point of the game. also you should have atleast 5 or 6 save files while playing any rpg, especially fallout (or elder scrolls), if not atleast for bugs and glitches, but i'm guessing you "get that" now. also, i think the game creates an auto-save right before it's too late to go back.

It's too bad Obsidian didn't force a save right before you clicked yes. I think a majority of these threads wouldn't have occurred if they had just made New Vegas make an extra save.

It's fairly hard to take all that, for all 4 different endings, and make it all converge into one point.

Interstingly, though, it looks like they may have intended to do it originally: there's a script called "VMQEndStatesQuestScript", with the following Comment in it:
; This script is responsible for handling changes in the world according to any of the five possible endings. In essence, it should be used to enable and disable any references that must change
; given the outcome of Hoover Dam's Battle.

; Enabling post-endgame references can be done quickly by setting an xmarker to be an enabler-parent. Disabling pre-endgame references, however, is best handled individually for each reference unless
; they are not subject to be disabled by script elsewhere (references with an enable-parent cannot be disabled or enabled by anything else than the enable-parent).

(My Bold)

These seem to suggest the intention of disabling certain features, and enabling others to reflect changes in the world.

Presumably they realised what a huge job it would actually be, and scrapped it-- still, it could make an interesting Mod project for someone with a lot of time...

What I find odd about the people who complain about having to start another playthrough is this is a game with four endings. You bought a game with four endings, don't you want to see the other three endings past your first game? Start a new game, go another route. The missions are the same but the story is vastly different

Really........... Even I have made a few characters, and I hate multiple endings. 4 endings= 0 real endings.

OP Bethesda did not make fo nv Obsidian did. As others have said the giant pop up that says "point of no return" in it should have been more that a hint. What are you doing with only 2 saves so close together in a game you say yourself is full of bugs and glitches?

I m sorry I just don t feel bad for you op.
