- Empire Earth I + all Expansion content

I might be acting on nostalgia, but this was my first RTS, and I then got into Age of Mythology, which I also really liked.

I think its a great game, with a good amount of fun campaign content, even more with the expansion (I think there's just one). Also, I wouldn't recommend the second sequel, but there is a third I have not tried yet (I should probably get around to doing that, considering I bought it a year or two ago).

EDIT: Forgot to mention its pretty old, I think a bit older than Age of Mythology, but I know it works on XP, Vista, and 7, if you add compatability settings for XP.

Europa Universalis!

For the same reasons. Although invading China whilst simulataneously besieging the capital of Baluchistan and putting down a revolt in Delhi sometimes feels like it's going faster than you can cope with at once.
I second EU, specifically EU3 with the expansions.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I am currently trying Sins of a Solar Empire. I am expecting to be trying out Rise of Legends. I might pick up Halo Wars soon also.

SOASE is an awesome game. I only played Halo Wars on 360 and it was pretty bad. Graphics left me pretty underwhelmed and the controls svcked - but again, I was on the 360.

The only good Xbox 360 RTS I've played was Battle for middle earth 2. And that was really good.

Luckily I don't touch the thing anymore. On the rare occasion I play a game (by myself), it's the PC for me. :)

The only reason I got the 360 was, like many people, for Halo 3.

Not a bad reason! Halo 3 was a sick game. Reach was pretty good, too. Halo Wars, though, that game didn't belong on the 360.

It was decent for a console RTS and I can't truly bring myself to state too many flaws in it since it was the last game Ensemble Studios made.

That's because Halo Wars was only for the 360. I miss Ensemble. :(

Halo Wars was pretty poor. There was insufficient map variety, poor unit variety and little economy management.

Command & Conquer.
You can't beat it in terms of RTS.
I heartily recommend this. My favorites (in descending order) are Zero Hour, Tiberian Sun, Red Alert II, C&C 3, and the others are still fun.

Europa Unversalis II and III
Hearts of Iron 2 (especially Darkest Hour)

Victoria 2 is nice and all but doesn't compare with Victoria: Revolutions.

I didn't like Sins all that much, but maybe that's because I played Homeworld beforehand. The actual RTS side just pales in comparison.

Supreme Commander.

I like it because it has big robots blowing other big robots up.
This. Also worth it to try Total Annihilation, its spiritual predecessor. Best dollar I ever spent.

Dawn of war 2, dawn of war 2 chaos rising, and dawn of war 2 retribution, they are the best rts!

So did i, but i love Sins :lmao: Sins combines elements of RTS and 4x strategy, so that combination may not work for everyone.

Speaking of, does Rebellion have a release date yet?

Depends on what you want on it. A good singleplayer experience? Dawn of War, Homeworld, every Command and Conquer game that isn't Red Alert 3 or C&C 4, and supreme commander.

If you want competitive multiplayer, there's really nothing modern that comes anywhere near Starcraft 2.

World in conflict is a good RTS if you're looking for something different from the usual RTS formula.
