well IRL wasps are super powered at only an inch long. they have been known to slaughter bee colonies fighting it out fifty to one or ants or termites. Hell they even prey on tarantulas, small birds and shrews. Wasps are very scary animals.

now make them about ten, no one hundred thousand times larger and meaner...

cazadores are yet another example of how dangers the mutated animals and insects of the wasteland can be. this aint the CoD playground. recess is over. time for the big boys to come out with some really big guns.

two tips:
don't head north from goodsprings through cazadore country (did that a few times before i decided the wasps had killed me about three times to each wasp kill i got) until you have lots of guns and are in your twenties levels. to get to red rock early on head out along the road north of vegas headed west to avoid trouble.

also get boon and stand back when you sight cazadore up ahead. boon can typically kill one and wound the second before they reach you and they will eventually see you and head your way. help him kill the wounded one first then take out the third who will be on you by then. one cazadore isnt that big a deal. also you can shoot off their wings and that makes them pretty easy to take out.

I still haven't got one frenzied I am not sure if they can be frenzied like ants...

Cazador's are suppose to be the "new" deathclaw's.... they rival each other and will kill each other if there in the same area. Iono why everyone is having problems with Cazadors though... i've killed many of them with 2-3 shots with my power fists and some help from Boone from afar. This is on hardcoe with difficulty set to very hard btw. The only thing i would assume to why people keep dying to them is cuz they do some insane poison dmg :/.... carry some antivenom and you'll be good to go!

Spoiler
yes my eighth achievement was the hardcoe mode one. beating the game on level nineteen in twenty nine hours while failing so many quests gave me a very depressing ending. I lost two companions and blew my chance with the NCR when I couldnt get back into the BOS bunker. Luckily I still had Yes Man to help me with my first playthrough. Things get very hairy at the damn dam even if you havent got all of your 'forces'. Hell by the end of that BS I felt okay betraying the NCR in the final moments of the game...

very hard + hardcoe? shoot I seldom had it set above normal and there were moments it went down to easy which is pretty hard to admit for me since my preference is to play it to the bone...FONV is far more challenging than FO3. Hell I had to stop and actually think about what I was doing more often than not.

Cazadors are a pain in the a$$ because they are faster than a deathclaw, I managed to wipe out an entire family of deathclaws but cazadors nearly always beat me, I'm getting better at beating them now, but it did come as a surprize just how powerful they are.

yup they frenzy just like ants, the problem is actually hitting the antennae and being close enough that they attack each other, and being close to a group of them is a death sentence.

ive just killed every deathclaw in the quarry at level 14 and it was easy as hell compared to these bugs. Ive been thinkin of how effective the shotgun will be against them, either with slugs or shot.

Marksman carbine or hunting rifle in VATS. Never had a problem with them, then again I do have the bug stomper perk (extra damage to insects).

Cazadors are as dangerous as Deathclaws were in FO3.....but now Deathclaws are even more dangerous - even high level character should be careful around them, I think this really fits them since they do look extremly tough.......as for Cazadors... they are like extra fast FO3 Deathclaws for me

My first run-in with the Cazadors was at a raider camp. I was up on a mountain and looked down, and saw a flock of those bastards, didn't know what they were but there were dead bodies everywhere so I knew it couldn't be good. So I circumnavigated the camp and went on my way, somewhere along the way I died, restarted and came across the same camp with no Cazadors, so I investigated; I went to sleep (autosave) and when I woke up there where at least 5 Cazadors surrounding me! I tried several times to get out of it legally, but was slaughtered every time, so I finally had to console-TCL my way out of it. Funny thing is - even after escaping them that way, no matter how far I ran, they seemed to be tracking me, even when the sneak indicator said I was clear! I finally had to fast-travel across the map to finally get rid of the problem.

Lasers to the wings to knock them ALL to ground, then finish off at leisure

My first run in with a cazador was at level five and it destroyed my health in 3 hits

Have only bumped into young ones since which are a pain but manageable

Deathclaws have also become a lot stronger since FO3

I'm having fun using my power fist, you just have to time your ranger sweep (backwards power attack) just as it charges to hit you and you'll knock it down.

Lol i just wished Ranger Sweep made more sense in third person mode against Caza's. First person is fine since it's a palm thrust... but i used it in third person and i 2 hit KO'ed it, even though i clearly hit air below the bee. Lol

Yea..lol. I play the whole game in third person though. I find the new melee animations extremely amusing. Hilarious when you leg sweep a flying bug and it flies back 10 feet and dies in 1 hit crit.

I load my riot shotgun up with buckshot and play like I was a Pyro in TF2.

Oh, and I'm wearing the full Remnants armor. I shrug those things off in that armor, most of the stings bounce off.

<-------- right there!
Cazadors are a bit easy when you have Boone on your side because he can kill them easily with percision and success. So, they are not a problem for me, in fact, the Cazador is my favorite mutated animal/insect in Fallout New Vegas. Their poison glands are worth a lot of caps!

Is it just me or are those giant wasp things a little bit overpowered?

Nope, can 1 shot them most of the time, have been able to since fairly early in the game. Granted, I'm playing on whatever the default difficulty is.

Heyyy, you were at Tribal Camp! :tops: That happened to me, too. I randomly decided to drop everything at level 8 and head for Vegas, and get in there no matter what. So I traveled north from Goodsprings and the Cazadores started schooling me on how to die really fast. So I started over from Goodsprings, kept left, and kind of glitched/climbed along the invisible walls to avoid them. Anyhoo, I came across that same camp, with around 4 Cazadores and 2 Young Cazadores swarming around a bunch of dead bodies, but I was on a ledge way above it. Went into sneak and it said [DANGER] so I knew they detected me, but they couldn't reach me for some reason. (Even though they can fly? Okay...) Couldn't reach them in VATS so I shot in first person view. (I could have just dropped down and gone for it, but I'd come pretty far and I planned on getting to the Vegas strip and running around without saving at all...)

Was really high up, so it was hard to aim accurately, and a lot of the time they were behind a stupid tent. I tried all the guns in my inventory, I had Varmint Rifle, Single Shotgun, Lazer Rifle, even a Sniper Rifle, etc. Later on I also fought a whole swarm on the ground, and it was not that difficult after I learned that.....

TL;DR: The guns that worked the best (and by the best I mean from as far away as I was, would kill one in 2 or 3 hits), was the 10mm Pistol or 10mm SMG. Regular bullets worked fine, but HP packed extra punch. That's what I love about Fallout, the experimenting!!

Basicly, i just shoot them with a sniper rifle and if they get too close i smash them with my super-sledge. these guys are eighter to be caught off guard, or to be smashed with a powerful mele weapon. anything in the middle is too complicated

I love encounters with these things. They're one of the only enemies that isn't made to look foolish by gingerly jumping up on a rock. See a Deathclaw? Just jump on a rock. You win.

They should really be able to climb.
