Cazadors....

Post » Thu Dec 09, 2010 1:25 am

Is it just me or are those giant wasp things a little bit overpowered? It feels like I'm fighting a group of deathclaws everytime I come up on one. There also seem to a lot of groups of them just hanging around.

Yeah Tell me about it, but then again I thought the same of Yao Gui and Deathclaws in F3, and by the end I found that I could kill em with Stabhappy (The Unique Combat Knife) without a hassle (Well Except for Deathclaws when they leaped at you and you werent quick enough).

Its all about finding their movements, I find that the Cazadors like to go slightly side to side then lunge, and if you time it right you can smack them with a Melee weapon while you side step the lunge (Was done on a Full Grown Cazador just north of Goodsprings with a lvl 8 character)

Add a second one into the Mix and your screwed. But As Sunny Smiles (or whatever her name is) Says in the Prospector Saloon, "There are Critters up north that just get mad if you shoot em" (Dont quote me on it, its close enough lol)

VATS mode and target wings first, then finish off when they're on the ground

That works.

10mm SMG helps too when they get up close. Don't be afraid to run away screaming like a little girl. I'd rather be thought of as a wuss than a corpse....

If you want to be mean go stealthed at range and use a sniper rifle or hunters rifle but not vats. If you also have a coupe of levels in the extra damage to insects perk and the extra crit damage one they drop like, well, flies. Oh, silencers help as well so you can get more than one sneak shot off.

What they're saying is... This isn't CoD. It's an RPG, and you HAVE to play it smart. I admit that Beth's games have always been closer to the action/RPG side of things. But OE has only ever made flat out RPGs up till recently. You'll have to adapt accordingly.

Yes, this. Just shooting and killing won't be effective on every enemy. I like the strategy involved. In FO3, Deathclaws were a pain until you found out that crippling their legs made them considerably less... scary. (Oh how I loved you, Dart Gun.)

Haven't come across Cazadors yet, but when I do, I'll be remembering that wings tip...

Cazador's are suppose to be the "new" deathclaw's.... they rival each other and will kill each other if there in the same area. Iono why everyone is having problems with Cazadors though... i've killed many of them with 2-3 shots with my power fists and some help from Boone from afar. This is on hardcoe with difficulty set to very hard btw. The only thing i would assume to why people keep dying to them is cuz they do some insane poison dmg :/.... carry some antivenom and you'll be good to go!

when they are in groups, shooting their antanae to put them in a frenzied state is also very satisfying towatch as they all turn on each other

I have noticed that the enemy's in NV take a lot more tactical approach then FO3 did like stated before Cazadors=Aim for the wings! Deathclaws=Cripple Legs or Aim for the head! So yes you can't just go around shooting everything like it's a target at a shooting range, that is of course unless you are playing on Very Easy.

I found an Incinerator pretty early in the game (Lvl 7) at black mountain, they became easy after that (If you find a flamer anywhere, it's even easier =/)

They are brutal on hardcoe/hard, but lets not start crying they are overpowered. Games are too easy nowadays its a good thing New Vegas added a couple tough enemies.

How did you take on Black Mountain so early I went there and got my rear handed to me a bunch of times.

They're quite a [censored] to snipe too, since they don't stand still and perceptive little bastards since they detect you immediatily. But it's fine once you get your hands on the chainsaw. If bullets don't finish em off, then that will since they walk right into it, or rather, fly.

10mm SMG w/ HP Ammo. Tears 'em to shreds. If I see a big group I tend to snipe as many as I can from a distance (Scoped Trail Carbine or Hunting Rifle w/ HP Ammo = 1 Shot kill). Most of the time I can get few before they see me. When they approach SMG 'em.

If you don't have said weapons, well... shoot them in the wings and/or run.

Those creatures are extremely difficult for me, I hated coming across them, I usually just picked them off with my Hunting Rifle from afar, then when they got a little too close I'd go full auto with my 10MM SMG, usually does the job, and with Boone it's a hell of a lot more easier though I'm not going to use him on my current save.

Luckily I haven't encountered any of them as of yet on my current save file though.
