Changing Underwear!

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 2:08 am

Heck, this is a roleplaying game and I want to be able to wear female underwear on my male character, this is serious and makes sense, if you can't cross dress atleast make more underwear, and maybe jocks. Bullet-proof jocks.

:(?

But yeah seems a bit wierd how everyone in fallout 3 wears the same under garments. I think from the Vegas strip clips that this will not change since you can see the underclothed ladies in the fountain.

Not a big deal. But this is due to body models or something. theyd have to make more copies or something to do it.

But otherwise just for the sake of not seeing everyone in light grey t shirt and dark grey undershorts, not a big deal.

the undershirts always annoyed me. the boxers fine... but every raider, soldier, civilian has the same dirty white t-shirt on... yeah that is real cool.

Yeah. If you want to wear panties or whatever more power to you. But underwear should change based on the type of character. I agree that raider should have a loincloth or something.

Personally I want to have underwear with hearts on it on my character.

I hear ya ma friend! What happened to cross dressing? I think that you could cross dress in morrowind, but oblivion changed all of that. Maybe cross dressing could affect the npcs reaction toward your character like in fable 2.

As far as I know you can't cross dress in morrowind without mods.

I found the undershirts on the guys ridiculous. Half the men we see have bare chest showing, or in some cases like the raiders, are shirtless to begin with, but when you take their armor, suddenly they have a T-shirt on! Does the Lone Wanderer carry a pack of shirts with him and dress the dead out of some form of guilt?

Being able to designate different kinds of underwear for our characters would be kind of funny (yay, heart boxers), but I don't really care. I would like for the undergarments to actually match the NPC-type though. Undershirts and boxers work great for Vault dwellers, but look stupid on raiders, who should be wearing dirty briefs, or a loincloth.

Realistically no one in the wasteland would wear underwear, as that kind of thing isn't strictly necessary. Also, underwear wouldn't be the kind of clothing that survives 200 years or gets . . . passed down :yuck: or scavenged off corpses. But we know Bethesda and Obsidian can't have naked bodies lying around everywhere stripped of possessions, so some form of underwear must be had, I just hope that Raiders won't get "a free T-shirt with death" in New Vegas.

I wonder if there could be Underwear vertex groups
(The idea being that different underwear alphas could be switched on or off depending on which armor is being taken from them)

Then all that would be needed is reasonable underwear for regular clothes and for under the bizarre raider armors (even though its a good bet that they wouldn't really wear any).

Hmm well what i was thinking is that a female character could wear pants in morrowind, and in oblivion those pants magically turned into a skirt/dress. The same for the male characters, they couldn't wear dresses or skirts!

Well, I never run around naked but it would be pretty cool to see enemies with different underwear after you take their armor (no homo)

Eh, it will be fixed when the body replacers come out anyways, because then anyone with paint.NET and Blender can edit as they see fit.

Some things are better-left under the costume. ;)

I don't see the gameplay relevance other than as an oddity, though it would be funny if they were in. We could mod-up some pretty cook super-hero underwear!

I like to pretend that my guy does dress the dead out of respect.

There are cultures out there that dress the dead. Maybe he/she hears of this culture and wants to mimic?

I dunno. :/

You could wear women's clothing as a male character in morrowind. Because men and womens clothing in morrowind were each their own individual item.
In oblivion you just had "Blue Outfit" that would change appearance depending on your character's gender.

I wonder what made Beth go with the t-shirts. The vanilla meshes include both male and female meshes with naked torsos.
I'm guessing they didn't want to put a half-naked female in the game, then decided to match the male with the female.

But this is due to body models or something.

Yep. All the bodies of one type (female human & male human, for example) are basically standardized. And the underwear is grafted directly on, so that some kid on an XBox can't traumatize his parents with a Hot Coffee style hack. (The reason the underwear doesn't show when you put on shirtless Raider armor, for example, is that the body is built into each regular armor - so when you put on Raider armor, it doesn't layer it over your torso, it replaces the torso completely. This becomes blatantly obvious when you use two pieces of female armor from mods with different chest sizes - instant plastic surgery as you switch between the two armors. :D)

Good lord this is unnecessary. I understand why people like dressing up their character in whatever outfits they pick. I don't understand why underwear would be so important. Are you really going to make a character that runs around in their underwear. And this character has such a great fashion sense that they wont wear the typical grey underwear? REALLY?

I don't mind removing the undershirt for males. What's up with that, anyway?

This is actually the reason why I have the naked dead bodies mod. It improves the realism a ton.

Some people just don't want to see a naked dead man or woman. Makes the game too graphic. Plus, some other folks that never play the game will take the naked dead women and go "omg this is a [censored] simulator!"

Changing underwear is unnecessary, yes, but why would you get rid of the undershirt? Just wearing football pads without a shirt on isn't really the most comfortable experience (unless it's really really hot out).

That bugged me too... Couldn't be too hard to have Raider undies, city dweller undies, vault dweller undies, etc.
