Chimpanzee Versus Human?

Post » Fri Aug 24, 2012 4:18 pm

What do you guys think the odds are for a human to win in a fight against chimpanzee in hand to hand combat? I know the average human would have little to no chance. Think master martial arts human-like Bruce Lee in his prime. If Bruce were to expect the fight to happen, he might have a chance of beating the beast if he could outsmart it.

The environment would also have to be factored into the equation. In an area where makeshift weapons would be able to be acquired, the human might stand a considerably better chance at winning.

What do you guys think?

No, simply because Chimps don't follow rules.

While you are busy punching the chimp, it is busy biting your throat.

My money would be on the chimpanzee. One bite and it's all over.

Chimps are smarter than you think they are...and they're alot stronger than humans.

There would be no rules though. Pretty much every Chimpanzee attack results in the human getting mangled, but that might have to do with the fact that the human is not anticipating the attack and is hit by surprise. If the human were to keep the chimp at a distance and outsmart it, he might have a chance(albeit a slim one)

Humans, in an environment compared to other creatures, don't have much going for them. They need to train and absorb knowledge to win in fights. We also rely heavily on our brains. Humans by themselves, away from their creations, aren't very fearsome. I say it could go either way.

The rules are in your mind.

Have you ever been in a fight?

You will only punch someone's face while punching someone's throat is a lot more effective in many situations, but you will not do that.

Ever fought someone who is really, really angry?

That guy will do anything to inflicht as much pain as possible.

Think of the chimp as a really really angry guy, with the upper body strength of a body builder and the speed of a small child.

Without a weapon of sorts -even a knife would at least be something.. I'm reluctant to take on wild animals, for all the obvious reasoning..

so my smart money goes on the chimp, and here's hoping it doesn't throw the match..

Chimpanzees are very similar to humans and we are closely related. It doesn't mean we came from them, more like they came from us and we came from them.

I bet on the chimp.

In most cases a chimp beats a human. But if you got a fast acting quick thinking human, theres a big possibility in beating the chimp. Of course that means using whatever you can find as a weapon, and chimps are smart, but they can still be outsmarted pretty easily. If you could lure the chimp into some sort of trap, using technology that a chimp isnt familiar with (which is pretty much anything made by man) then theres a distinct possibility in the human winning.
But yeah most chimp attacks on humans are on unsuspecting people or like old chicks (that arent very good fighters to begin with)

The point of this thread is not who would win but rather if the human would have a chance of winning and if so, how?

I dont really understand what you're trying to say. I've only ever been in two fights. The first one I was taken by surprise by a group of four. For a split second I thought they were going to kill me(it was a mugging) and I went (pardon the pun) ape [censored] crazy. Are you saying that humans would go for less effective attacks because they have preestablished "rules" about fighting? I'm pretty sure if someone's life is in danger they will resort to any means to stay alive.

Bare hands? Chimp wins.

With tools or a makeshift weapon like a spear? Human might stand a chance, but only if it's http://i.imgflip.com/1bho.jpg.

Chimps are much stronger than humans. And being wild animals, would be less likely to show mercy in a real fight.

If we are assuming they fight in a cage without any tools, the human is likely to lose simply because the chimp is so savage.

Everyone here knows a guy who will throw down against guys who are 2 heads taller than him.

Is he stronger? No.
Does he win? Often.

Because he is not afraid to completely go for it and doesn't think about what damage he might cause.

The chimp would win. The human will freak out when he/she gets bitten and will probably not want to try biting the chimp, thus only having his/her bingo-wings to wave around.

It's almost just like outsmarting a person unfamiliar with certain things.

You seem to be forgetting that nthis is a scenario in which hand to hand combat takes place. meaning no finding any weapon you can in order to win, and no luring the chimp into a trap using technology.

Hand to hand combat, chimp wins hand down. :hehe:

Lets change it up a bit. Lets say the human is armed with a primitive blunt object, like a baseball bat. Do you think the human would be able to win?

From my experience, in a fight whoever is able to inflict the most grievous injury first usually does best, if they can keep up momentum enough to see the incident through. I'm referring to a self defense type scenario, not a sanctioned event. A chimp vs a human? Ouch. Some plastic surgeon and vet are going to get a vacation condo paid for out of that one. I had a friend who worked in at a lab tell me that monkeys had snapped technicians arms (radius and ulna bones) simply by grabbing them and squeezing. And those were just monkeys, I'm sure a Chimp..ugh. Unless the human involved could get a good choke hold, from behind, I'd say the Chimp has the best chance. They seem to have a higher damage capacity in most areas, whether it's raw strength, or even things like their fingernails and teeth. Not to mention the fact that they can essentially grab (crush/pull/clobber) with their "feet" just as well as their hands. That's one event I wouldn't buy tickets for or put a bet on. I've been attacked a few times by large dogs, and it was never fun. I wouldn't even want to imagine an angry primate coming at me.

Well i know i would feel a hell of a lot more confident fighting a chimp if i had a baseball bat. I might actually venture towards the prospect that i might even win realitively unscathed.

I could take a chimp. My eye poke it fast, accurate and deadly. I'm 6'2' and, according to the cut out at the zoo, we've got about equal reach.

With a baseball bat? Human might stand a chance, but one good hit from the chimp and I believe it's all over for the human.

Depends upon the size and age of the creature. If we are talking an elderly chimp or baby, then yes any human can take it in all likelyhood. However, if we are talking about a chimp in their prime, it is in the chimp's favor.

Those things are extremely vicious and aren't affraid to bite/scratch. No offense, but it's similar to the fights i've seen in HS between girls. They go all out kicking, scratching, biting, hair pulling, etc... .
