"Choose new paths for your skills and abilities.."

Could this be...a perk reset?

Look at the wording. It's definitely insinuating that. NEW paths, aka, changing what we already have? Could Dragonborn add a perk reset?

If so, are you for it? Against it?

I'm thinking it'll be done via a book of knowledge akin to the Infinium. After all, that was Hormaus Mora's book, and this IS his realm. Makes sense. Read a book, gain new knowledge, make the choice of resetting or not. Thoughts?

It sounds more like they're adding new perks to each tree, possibly.

Im personally against repseccing. This isn't WoW and Elder Scrolls has always been like that, unable to respec.

I think new insinuates that there will be new paths and perks, otherwise it would be recycling/reusing perks already spent. Could be wrong though.

If you are correct, then I would be indifferent towards it as it would be down to the individual player to decide whether or not to reset their perks. I don't think I would as it's not very true to RP but that's my own personal view :)

I care more about new perks and branches, than the ability to respec.

Yeah, I have a few perk points left too, that I have intentionally been saving for the chance of new/better magic perks. Here is hoping my patience will pay off.

My thoughts?

I wish this whole idea of respec'ing your character would go the way of the Dodo...

This is the Elder Scrolls, not WoW.

If you want respec'ing, go play WoW.

If you want an actual quality RPG that makes you take responsibility for your choices and actions, play The Elder Scrolls.

And no, I don't think that that line os referencing a respec option. I think you're grasping at straws and air, OP.

Some of us like me never played WoW, so the whole idea isn't because of WoW.. If you're 81 and already used up your perks, the only choice to make is to start a new character. You might be fine with that, but others not.

This.

This.

And oh boy this.

They'll have to sell the respec option really well lorewise if they're going to convince me its not the anti-christ. (Assuming that is what it is implying, at least :( )

I think new perks are much more likely, and I'd much prefer them to a respec option. Want a different playstyle? Make a new character. That's why there's 10 races to choose from. Seems a waste to stick to just one.

I've never understood why you'd want to do everything on one character when there's a limitless number of potential ways to play out there.

EDIT: if it is a respec option, I won't pull up any trees. I'll just quite happily ignore it, just like I've ignored the face sculptor in the Ragged Flagon, as I have no need of her.

New paths were introduced with Dawngaurd, Vampire Lord and Werewolf. This is the same thing.

Wow, could you have been any more polite about that?

Her point is that if you're level 81, and they're introducing new perks, that character would be stuck "as is". Granted, there are ways to respec, but it's a real pain. And it's not an in-game feature.

Edit: To be fair, the moderator that posted above me is probably correct. Level 81s will probably still benefit, regardless of the inability to progress in level.

With all of the Perks you have spend points on to even get to level 81, what difference would a respec make considering most every node is lit up? At level 81, there's extremely few option to rearrange Perk points and have it affect the game in any kind of meaningful way.

Eventually, you will have to make a new character. That's just how it goes, why cheapen the game and obliterate any meaning to doing anything by inserting a respec?

This all day.

I'm actually pretty interested in it. I'm even more interested in the notion of possibly adding more perks and perk paths. It would be interesting if they expanded on destruction magic.

I don't mind respec'ing as long as it's introduced in a lore-friendly way, for example some kind of magic (perhaps by HM himself?) that just makes you "forget" or something like that... :S

Also the cost of it should be really high so there are consequences to respec'ing, and it should only be a 1-time thing ever.

This sounds good to me. But vampire and werewolf were entirely new trees. I am excited, but skeptical that there will be entirely new trees in Dragonborn.

Thats not true, there's like 250 possible perks to get. You could respec and have a very different skill set.

I personally don't care if they add respec or not. I won't use but if they add it, it won't bother me as I'll just ignore it.

I'd only use it if the new perks they add will require skill points. If not, then I couldn't care less.
