Clothing. Why?

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 4:50 am

Seriously. Aside from one (that I know of) quest where you have to ware clothes to fit in - I see NO reason for them. I haven't tried enchanting clothes (can you?) - so why? why clothes? what do you do with clothes? (obv ware them - do you have multiple outfits? special occasion....)

as a mage I ware nothing but robes and thamor based gear (I love them)

But why clothes?

armor is better....

-You can wear clothing and have just as good of an armor rating as armor, when using Alteration spells.

-Faster stamina regeneration.

-Yes, you can enchant clothing.

So that the civiliians who are the majority of city npcs have something to wear? And yes, you can enchant them. Robes are clothing.

my imperial wears a nice green dress when going for a walk to the shops, that way i can carry more stuff to sell and you are quite a bit faster.
she also wears that dress when running to a place that i haven't discovered yet because of the speed boost. when enemies are nearby she just whips on her heavy armor which she conveniently had in her pocket and slaughters them :D
that's basically the only reason i use clothes, streaking in the towns is funny but it always feels inappropriate to do, and walking through town with a full set of armour is just pointless and slow

I have sets of clothing for just about each task that have been enchanted to assist with that task. All I really need now is a speedo enchanted with water breathing for my morning swims off the dock of Honeyside.

Don't really understand the OP's point. You have clothes because it's an openworld sandbox RPG. It adds enjoyment and variation. There doesn't need to be any "reason" other than that.

If anything, clothing should be more varied. :P

I ask myself the same thing every day... in real life. On a serious note, couldn't you enchant some everyday clothing with Fortify Barter? Never tried it, but if you're looking for practical, there it is.

Why do you hate freedom?

LOL... Brilliant.

Mainly for variety and roleplaying. Should I be expected to wear battered, blood soaked armour when going through town?

So I can look the part as a chef who serves up cupcakes Sweet Rolls of doom and briols enemies with his own built in stoves! And by that I mean fireballs. After all no one ever expects fireballs from the darkened corner.... Especaily from the man in chefs clothing....

But to be completely seriouse here it's for varying up the npcs. I hate npc's that have unique clothing that I can't have. HATE IT! Some things just make a character feel more unique and special. Right now I'm working on getting the empror robes for my argonian wizard.

But why clothes?
One of my characters is wearing clothes only. No enchanted robes, no armours. It's the Argonian in my avatar. ;)

-Faster stamina regeneration.

Is this true? I thought armor only affected movement speed.

To answer the original questions, I roleplay, so my characters will wear clothing in town or while traveling, if it fits their mood/quest/personality. One of my previous characters had clothing enchanted for blacksmithing and alchemy skills.

Vur'Kha thinks clothes are good. Clothes make everyone less nvde. This one also prefers to be less nvde as well, and armor makes her fur scratchy after too long.

I keep asking myself why I put on pants this morning ... and I'm drawing a blank. Maybe for my co-workers...

I only wear clothing when I am in a town and do not expect any enemies. Really, I would never use them in battles. First because they do not give me a good protection and secound because my heavy armor ability does not improve when I do not wear it.

I wear clothes on my mages because robes are so boring. Plus, I can enchant better than what the shoddy store sells.

Wow I didn't think people actually used clothes. (do NPc's buy stuff? - I know they did in oblivion - some one said for the NPC's) and I didn't know you could enchant clothing. I shall investigate this :D

I only ever ware robes, I have many sets, from +75% regen on magic to +12% reduc in destruction magic and a few other sets that are not so noob.

I never thought to ware clothes. my dark elf's face and hair look like he was badly beaten and scaredby a magical accident, hence why the robes.

I also wanted to know if people ACTUALLY bought and wore clothes and why.

To play a pure assassin of course. All you're allowed to use is a dagger. No armour, no spells. A pure backstabby assassin.

Oh yeah, avoid getting hit by anything. Most of it is instant death at higher levels.
