Oh please no, not an easy mode.. that is a pure oneway lane to utter crap...
Why? If they design the game to be an awesome experience like the classics, then spend a little extra time once they are done adding a simplified mode-
actually another way is to not have a simplified mode but instead have all things hardcoe toggleable options in the menu but have them off by defualt. for example objective markers, pause time in inventory, no simplified skills and attributes/auto distribution of skills and attributes, no extra checkpoints, no highlighting of quest items, hints and so on. that is just an example but if all that is off by defualt then a newcomer/newb wont have any trouble and us hardcoes get it all.
I dont know but I want these type of games to finally be recognised by the masses as the greatest, and if there is an easy mode that helps them get into the game then all is well. also it will help sales by "appealing to a wider audience", whilst still keeping the true classic superior design. if only they done that with deus ex: invisible war, bioshock and more then I would be happy. Big 3D Games cost alot more (at least 7x more it seems) to develop than they did 10 years ago so that is why developers always try to appeal to a larger audience and we get souless games.
This is the only work around I can think of but it requires extra effort from the devs. Who knows what they have planned. But two modern games I consider hardcoe, dark souls & fallout: New vegas, sold extremely well and they did not have simplified modes(but FO:NV did have a few hand holders), and whats more dark souls is console only!
