Compass is optional!

Pretty cool, I guess, though I think I'll just stick with just disabling markers.

Its not actually turning it off though? And it removes everything else aswell

Or wait, can we turn the opacity for the different elements individually? Cause then.. Sweet

Hopefully they can be adjusted individually.

If that's the case, then this is great news.

What is the difference between making it completely invisible and turning it off? Nothing.

I read it as you can change the opacity of each... But I guess you could read it as "all or nothing"

Typically, it is all or nothing. If they did make it a option to control each one separately, that would be a nice touch, but I don't see it happening.

I  my compass but nice for those that don't. Lots of good news today it seems. If you want a compass, it's there, if not you can be rid of it. If you want decapitation, take that perk, if not...don't take it. Seems they are trying to please the most folks possible with this game.

I say yes. Otherwise they wouldn't have considered it.

So I am going to have voice dialogue for each individual radiant quest?

this will go well

Well, the quote is "Don't recall who asked, but you can play with the HUD opacity so that you don't see your compass, crosshair, or bars, if you want."

If he said "and bars" I would read it as all or nothing. That, plus the fact that they give you plenty of options for which markers who you want appear or not appear makes me believe they will be separate. But that is just me.

Edit* Either way, that is fine with me though. The crosshair only came in handy for me when it came to moving stuff around in my house. I preferred to use my bow without it.

Great option, but I would have vastly preferred a constant camera perspective :/ snip

Ninjaed by 3 minutes. But the other topic didn't have a poll, so...

It doesn't affect me unless we can change the visibility of HUD elements separately.

Personally tho, Imma probably just get a UI mod. Or make one myself. Didn't someone at BGS say the UI was flash-based using actionscript 2?

Some people didn't want the compass, so POI's wouldn't be shown.

The Clairvoyance spell for one. That will help you with the randomness of Radiant Story. Also, NPC's will even walk you halfway to the destination and point out where to go from there or mark it on your map. This would be the scripted quests.

I'll wait and see if I find the HUD intrusive and then decide whether to fiddle with settings..

Good, now all you immersion-seekers can turn the hud completely off.

I Know, Hopefully there will be less complaining on the forums now :)

First part of your poll needs a "don't care". Because I'm sure anyone answering No, will be replied to with "OMG, why would anyone say No, it's just an option, you don't have to use it.".... when the only reason they answered No is because the Yes answer didn't fit, and No was the only other choice.

(Personally, I'm not going to remove any parts of the HUD. I like the game giving me the information I need to play it, instead of staggering around lost and ignorant because it's "more real". Now, moving the HUD elements around and changing their scale, like with DaRN UI? Yeah, I'd go for that.)

-----

How disappointed would you be, if it turns out that "HUD Opacity" is a single setting, and you have to either turn it all on or all off? Rather than just getting rid of the compass?

Such as myself. This option makes me a happy, happy, man. :tes:

Edit* ^ Less complaining? Bah! What do you think this is? Happy-Land? No, we are all Burgermeister's here! No toys optimism allowed! :P

It's nice, but I still think the compass is a little too "Essential" to turn off, if only for orientation. Being at the top of the screen was a mistake for sure though

Hooray! I don't need a mod to play without a compass! :D

I'll just use the sun and guideposts to navigate. That should be fun.

You guys are completely missing the mark. He was trying to say that you can alter the opacity of the whole HUD. Meaning if you don't want the compass, you aren't going to get anything else either.
