The number between brackets is the spell level? (1 novice, 2 apprentice, etc...)

Summon Familiar sounds so vague, that could be anything, it kind of sounds like your summoning a tamed undead, or the last npc you reanimated 0.0

Familiars are usualy a creature a mage has an affinity for kinda like a pet it could be a wolf, snake, hawk, ect

Spoiler
From the footage I saw, it was a wolf.

Has Frostbite been confirmed as the frost damage equivalent of Flames and Sparks? I was hoping it would be a touch spell actually :(

Yes. There are no touch spells. They've been replaced by the spray types.

But multiple levels of this type of spell have been confirmed. Frostbite is the weakest one. You can get better versions.

Ahh, okies. Thanks for the info. If there are multiple spray effect spells of the same damage type then I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that '85 spells' is actually the number of spell effects and not the total number of spells in Skyrim.

From what I've heard 85 effects was a lowball estimate. It's more like 94 effects and 300+ spells. (Again, just what I've heard, not even seen.)

Perhaps Summon Familiar is summoning a clone of yourself?

Maybe the familiar depends on the Race of the Caster?

Like Nord= Wolf, Altmer= Scamp, etc.

VERY Unlikely, but naming something Summon Familiar when it just summons a wolf is pretty stupid.

Alteration: Oakenflesh and Stoneflesh

Conjuration: Raise Zombie (The reanimate spell)

Illusion: Light and Paralyze

Btw, a guy on reddit said the summon familiar was a flaming dog that charged at enemies and blew up lol.

Think I recall reading (but could be wrong) that your familiar is "upgraded" when it kills a higher-level animal/creature and becomes it.

I keep trying to say the same thing but most can't get past the 85 spell EFFECTS...I count around 300 as well.

If it's a kitty, I might reconsider levelling conjuration.

Turn Undead. The spell creates a stationary circle around the caster that cause Undead who come into contact with it to flee.

And on the Restoration - Rejuvenation thing, I think he meant that the spell "Heal" is actually called "Rejuvenation" but the school of magic "Restoration" I believe is still called "Restoration"
