Conjuration Confusion

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 4:53 am

So I've seen the perks for conjuration and they all seem to only say something about summoning revenants(dead things) or attronachs. My question is what happened to summoning other daedric creatures such as Clanfears, Dremoras, or Winged Twilight(not in Oblivion). My fear is that Bethesda knew they couldn't use them as regular creatures anymore because the gates of Oblivion are closed forever and didn't want to create models, animations, and textures for them. I hope they will be included since they would be changing their lore by making it impossible to summon daedric creatures (because in Tamriel conjuration = transferring things from Oblivion to Nirn).

Also, does anyone else miss Winged Twilights from Morrowind?

Ehh, just because the gates are closed doesn't mean you can't summon creatures from Oblivion.

Thats exactly what I meant but I haven't seen anything suggesting that you will be able to summon other daedric creatures other than Attronachs (which are still summoned from Oblivion along with skeletons)

Well that confuses me. Many perks involve summoning more than one revenant or attronatch. So what about the rest of the creatures? Will we only be able to summon one, or do they have their own limit as well?

The perk list is not complete, Samuethegreat told us that when he capped them. So there could be more conjuration perks.

Well he said
- I cannot comment on the types of creatures that can be summoned. Only Atronachs and zombies were mentioned, but we know ghost wolves are in too. I don't know where they fit in.
. IMO, ghost wolves are undead which are revenants. So they would be included in the reanimated corpses catagory. So it doesn't seem to me like you can summon other daedric creatures.

Or the other summons are to powerful for a duo cast, which keeps the game balanced. But who knows, maybe it is just the atronachs.

He also said that the root of the Destruction and Restoration trees was the tiered perk that made spellcasting take less magicka and he was contradicted on that by multiple hands-on previews.

Don't rely too heavily on his word.

...or the rumor about perk tree layouts being different depending on race is true.

Just because there's no perk for more powerful deadras doesn't mean they arent' there.

80 *unique* spells. Summoning creatures could be regarded as 1, or a few, depending on how you look at it.

Oh? Reduced Magicka cost for the various spell ranks made sense as the root perk in each tree in my opinion. Any word on what is the root then?

Just to add, you can access Oblivion in the game, so those creatures are likely still there.

I believe it was a necromancer that summoned the wolf and we should be able to learn/find/buy any spell that an NPC uses.

Actually, 1 previewer found a staff that summoned a spectral wolf.

this could seriously put me off bethesda mainly because i love conjuration in oblivion (iknow flaws) but even in morrowind was cool, alot of people saying spirit wolves anyone play bloodmoon wolves and bears yes skaal but still nords. i could end up being very disappointed with skyrim if they have cut these out as well as limiting summoning to hell il say somthing like dragon age, beaware bethesda iv been a fan for past 14 years aint gonna be happy with all these cuts yh its a hard financial time dont be getting cheap on skyrim with us. p.s i wanna be a summoner/swords man 1 hand sword other summoning this will hurt badly

Not sure what you mean? What's getting cut? We don't know everything you can summon, I can imagine it's the usual monsters (different type of skeletons and zombies, variety of daedra, and maybe some surprises in Skyrim)

yeh am hoping but only 80 spells i hear and the achivements even if not completed are making it look less likely, plus a few people are saying they ran into summoners who didnt summon anything else other than the stupid ice deadra no flesh deadra? wolves bears clenfers? just hope they dont let my char down first time every game conjuration rules sack bound armor ect somthing tells me it might be rumped down quite abit, and as much as i love tes and have pre ordered skyrim since the start somthing tells me when we notice the things missing it aint gonna be good, they showed alot this close to release and still no hints

To reiterate, this is still all speculation. There is no clear evidence to either side.

The final perks have been released and they do refer specifically to Atronachs, so it would seem tht they're the only ones you can summon two of. However we already know about the ghost creatures and in the streams necromancers have been seen summoning corporeal undead as well, and at PAX I believe it was Matt Carofano who confirmed you can summon Dremora.

I think it's a bit lame that you're limited to atronachs for two at once. Should be easy to mod that so you can get two Daedra/undead in any combination
