Cool places on the interwebs.

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 7:35 am

Your choice picks of the interwebs. Have a favourite news site? A favourite gaming blog? A comedy/humour page?
In short, is there somewhere you return to over and over again just because it's so engaging/interesting/unique/informative?
List it here.

My pick of the moment is http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1331722-cool-places-on-the-interwebs/s&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CC4QFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.rockpapershotgun.com%2F&ei=eLkMT7DpEY-ZhQfDyOi5BA&usg=AFQjCNFle6NXTOzuvrccw75j_2aLQNMYhQ&sig2=q4kZCvXXOG_DxdD04T1Rdw.

I also visit PC Gamer and YouTube almost every day. I also occasionally post on the minecraft forums but that place has more trolls than Skyrim and Oblivion put together

Well there's here, cracked, pcgamer and gamesradar. I don't go to many other websites regularly.

edit: deviantart is another one I visit frequently, lots of amazingly talented people on there.

RPS is probably my favourite gaming-news site, with PC Gamer coming in second. ^_^

These forums, of course! :biggrin:

And Nexus for the latest mods. I used to be active on their forums but not so much these days.

For gaming news I check http://www.pcgamer.com/ and http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/ every day. They both cover PC games exclusively, so I don't have to scroll through irrelevant stuff because I don't own a console. They also both cover a lot of indie games, mods and other PC gaming related news.

For youtube there are 3 channels I follow: Totalbiscuit (Totalhalibut actually, I don't care for the Starcraft 2 stuff) , Jesse Cox (channel is called OMFGCata) and the Yogscast. They're all gaming channels, but there isn't much overlap in the type of content they provide, unless they're doing a collaboration.

And http://xkcd.com/ is my home page. Usually nice comics, even though I don't understand most of the ones related to mathematics, physics, chemistry, etc. It's a simple page too so it loads quickly.

I don't often leave the confines of Facebook or Twitter to explore the Internet in my free time. But when I do, I usually check Memebase, FML, True Lad and Sickipedia. They're all the ones I check daily anyway. Others that I visit on a more sporadic basis are Stumbleupon, Cracked, DYAC and Lolhappens. Usually cures my boredom.

Of course all of the above bow down to the awesomeness of BGSF ;)

:ohmy: But his SC2 videos are so awesome!
I've watched some of it and it's definitely good but I don't have a lot of interest in the competitive Starcraft 2 scene. But TB's commentary can make even watching paint dry interesting. :P

Memebase is the only place I visit outside of Youtube/Facebook/these forums.
Youtube can have some ...interesting places at times, though.

Sometimes, though, I lurk on random forums, posting on occasion.

Actually, this is where I spend most of my time lately. There is so much awesome stuff if you just click around and explore.

I'm just going to list some of the lesser known places:
http://bestofyoutube.com/?page=1 - The name says it all. It's a site that has only the absolute best videos of Youtube.
http://www.wikia.com/Wikia - This site is known by many on these forums. Contains the Vault, UESP and so many other dedicated pages.
http://www.desktopnexus.com/ - A database for awesome pictures to put on your desktop. It even automatically detects your screen resolution so when you enlarge a wallpaper it matches it.
http://failblog.org/ - Awesome pictures, videos, memes, Facebook wins/fails, demotivationals and other awesome things.

Who seriously wants to know how boring my browser is? Fine, you asked for it;

http://www.fda.gov/Food/FoodSafety/Product-SpecificInformation/Seafood/SeafoodHACCP/default.htm

http://www.fda.gov/food/foodsafety/foodborneillness/foodborneillnessfoodbornepathogensnaturaltoxins/badbugbook/default.htm

Of course I check my gmail, yahoo mail, facebook about once a week, and youtube.

Told you I was boring!

@ Clint;

Love your location buddy... Are you a breeder or observer? :tongue:

I use Google (Groups, Docs, Mail, Search, Code) religiously, Youtube for single songs/random videos, Pandora for music, Facebook for friends and concerts, and, of course, BGSF! I don't really care about gaming news that much, despite my best efforts at trying to immerse myself in it. I am far too inconsistent with other sites. A fire and forget mentality, here. :P

spoonyexperiment.com
lordkat.com
thatguywiththeglasses.com

All three of those sites revolve mostly around humorous reviews of old and/or geeky stuff like old b-rated movies, crappy NES games and comics. They all have huge communities built up around them, especially TGWTG.
