Could F:NV be the biggest game ever?

Post » Tue Jan 11, 2011 11:22 pm

wow.
Completely different beast from FO:NV

Doesn't matter, it's still bigger.

Metaphor time:
I have a bike. But I won't say it's faster than your car, because it isn't, might be easier to handle and go through alleys and small paths with and does not require any gas but it will still be slower than a car.

You said it's completely different from New Vegas, I took it as if you said we shouldn't use that one as an example of a game that's bigger because it's an online game.
Sorry if I was mistaking.

As of yet? Possibly. Well single player atleast, theres numerous MMORPG's out there that are huge. Ex. Guild Wars, World of Warcraft.

Well it is different, maybe I should have quoted who I was responding too, but it was in discussion to why some people like WOW. You have that online interaction that you don't get with F:NV, I should have been more clear

Okay.
Well why WoW is fun?
... Erm....
Because of halfnaked night elf's dancing?

I have no idea really, WoW is so big that I don't even know where to start.
Let's take one thing: playing a game with your friends where your characters actually matter.
(And example of playing a game with your friends where your characters doesn't matter is Cod and CS)
((Since all characters are the same yknow, just take a calss or weapon and start shooting!))
(((Whilst in a MMORPG your characters actually evolve and get stronger and get better equipment)))

Why is WoW so popular anyway?

I actually did TWO trials of the game and found it totally boring. Graphics are cartoonish, combat looks [censored], and there really isn't a story. Yeah there's a story of sorts but it's like something for 5 yr olds.

The whole thing seems gimmicky too. I remmeber one of my friends who tried to get me hooked on it was like: "See I got this snowman that can dance" I was like:

Try guildwars, very interesting story line, the whole series is a total of 3 campaigns you can do that characters can jump between and they all tie into each other plus an expansion pack. And a couple hundred of weapons, armor, items... etc

I love how no one ever responds to my posts.
Lbplanet is bigger than WoW, because WoW has a finite amount of quests, LBP levels are posted every minute of every day.
More levels in LBP than quests in WoW.

Little Big Planet relies on user made content and as such you are force to wade through oceans of crap to find anything decent. Having a lot of crap user made content doesnt make a game "big". FNV isnt going to be the "biggest" in any context such as size, content, sales, etc.

As for WoW it appeals to peoples urge to collect. Extremely slow progression (grinding, ricing, farming, whatever you want to call it) is how WoW keeps the subscriptions. I played WoW before it went very casual (pre first expansion) and I was addicted to it. Getting off that game was extremely hard which is pretty sad. WoW is more like a job when it comes to end game. You spend days on end farming a set of armor just so you can spend more days on end trying to replace it with armor thats 5% better. Quests designs, item models, monster models, etc are all reused a lot. WoW is a decent game but it can easily become a lifestyle instead of a past time.

Even Call of Duty has latched on to the slow progression that keeps players hooked.

World Of Warcraft.

Never played it (50 PLN a month! For 2 months of WOW I can buy New Vegas!) but I agree with this

This is wandering well away from FNV now into a general discussion on various games.
