An ingot of the appropriate metal type, and some firewood.

So pull out that long-neglected Woodsman's Ax and head over to the nearest chopping block.

1 ingot + 1 Firewood = 24 arrows on the appropriate type. ;)

Yes.

To craft Dragonbone Arrows you need: 1 Dragonbone + 1 Firewood + Dragon Armor Smithing Perk = 24 Dragonbone arrows.

That's what I forgot to mention above, though in hindsight it seems like common sense. In order to craft any arrows above iron & Steel, you need to have the appropriate Perk as well.

But there you go.

love from the Beta testers. :D

Craft them at Fort Dawnguard or buy them from Sorine Jurard.

Do you need perks to craft arrows of various types (glass, daedric, dragon, etc)?

Yes. You have to have the Perks of the appropriate type to craft arrows of said type.

Figured as much. I really hope they get away from this current smithing style in the next game. We don't need to use perks in Alchemy or Enchanting to do mix certain potions or enchant certain things, so I don't see why Smithing should be treated this way.

You know I don't actually think that any firewood goes into making say dwemer, or glass or deadric or dragon bone, or really any arrow other than steel and iron

You use them. Or at least it still requires the Firewood for the Smithing of them. You need the correct Perk, plus the appropriate metal and firewood to craft any arrows.

They can't just get rid of a perk tree...

Oops. I meant to say next game, not DLC. My point remains, the current Smithing perk tree makes no sense compared to the other crafting skills and should be retooled.

I know, and I think it was a good decision gameplay wise, I'm just pointing out that there isn't any wood on a deadric arrow, or that the dragon bone arrows are probably made of a dragon bone shaft

Well, when I look at them when I've got the bow drawn, it looks like a wood shaft to me. I see a metal arrowhead, and a wooden shaft. But I agree that it's a smart requirement, and it finally gives more uses/necessity to chopping wood.

Just to be 100% clear here, to craft Daedric arrows, all I need is some firewood and a stack of Ebony Ingots? No Daedra heart?

(Playing on PC so I can't look for myself)

No. For Daedric arrows you still need the Daedric heart. But it's the only type of arrows that need the hearts.

And you need one heart for every 24 arrows that you make.

I was afraid of this.

24 arrows per Daedra Heart is a bit extreme to me. Especially given the rarity/high cost of them compared to Dragonbones, which people probably have a 100 stack sitting at home by now.

Oh well, I can stock up for 4 weeks before the assumed PC launch, or just be a cheater and console them.

Or if you do the Mehrunes razor quest, you can get four Hearts every couple of weeks or so... ;)

Technically yes, but the actual stat difference between Daedric & Dragon gear is very small, almost negligible. Especially with how Smithing increases everything by flat numbers, and not an actual percentage. I prefer Daedric, but I'm sure I'll spend some time in full dragon gear for once.

As a vampire lord, you can pickpocket the solitude archer guard and take his bow and give him a crossbow and bolt to get more bolts, in case anyone needed to know.

I think the base difference is four points IIRC, or something negligible like that.
