Crafting a Dragonbone Sword Problem

Post » Mon Nov 19, 2012 10:24 pm

On XBOX 360 Here.

So I have a save game since before the first patch. I have a full set of alchemy gear + the falmer hood so 5 pieces at +29%

4 of those pieces = +29% on improving armor

and from the alchemy I made +147% blacksmithing potions

My Smithing is at 100 perks up to Dragonbone, Alchemy at 100 with the necessary first few perks, and Enchanting at 100 with all perks

I made a Dragonbone Sword and total damage shows 194 and Valued something like $10300 or so... w 34 pts absorb health and 45 points of stam +1/2 as much magicka damage.

Friend made a Dragonbone Sword and total damage shows 203 Value at $6954 with 31 pts of Absorb health and 40 pts of fire damage

How is it that his is showing or doing 203 Damage and mine is only at 194? Is it a glitch or game problem? Did something get patched and I have to make a new set of weapon gear because mine is +29%?

His potion was only +57% or so Blacksmithing and gear +25%, he is no hacker or modder either...

I'm also level 66 and he is 63 if that makes a difference.

I heard somewhere that the damage is actually 1094 or something and can't show the full number? Am I doing something wrong or is it a game typo thing? I can One shot pretty much everything I hit with a critical strike... So I'd imagine it's doing it's job...

Could be your sword is actually doing 1940 worth of damage, if your damage exceeds a thousand the screen will only display the first three digits. You can check by looking at the comparison numbers to other weapons (i.e. the green or red plus or minus damage figures).

Have you tried using the sword?

Here's something I discovered yesterday while using the resto loop: ONLY the first 3 digits of damage will be displayed. It's likely that your sword actually does 1000+ damage.

Edit: Noooo, ninja'd.

Interesting, I did the same thing you did and mine does 307 damage.

Case Closed... Thanks everyone, but the answer is simply Damage doesn't show past 999 apparently...

You mean the same order of crafting and popping potions etc?

Your friend is either
1.) A liar
or
2.)has enchantments to raise one handed damage

It's most likely the first option.

He actually sent me the pic... the one thing that is clearly different is the Value ... Mine is valued at 10022 gold and his 6k something...

But why would a sword with relatively the same enchants minus a few points and 203 damage vs 194 (if that's really 194 and not 1940) be valued less?

Some enchantments add tens of gold, while others add thousands.

Now that I remember, I do have a few enchantments to increase my one-handed.

I used the resto loop to smith my Blade of Woe. It only went up about 40 damage or so, less than 200 total. Yet it was literally worth millions. Why? Because as I said before, only the first 3 digits of damage are shown. The devs probably figured we'd never break 999. My Blade of Woe was a one-shot cannon.
