Crash Following Intro

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 7:35 pm

I've run the game 3 times now, crash every time after I leave the stasis pod. I even downloaded the newest ATI tweak, made it to the dunebuggy and crashed again.

I have dual radeon 6970's crossfire, could this be causing the problem? I have a seriously boss computer rig and am very disappointed that the game is crashing seconds after I begin over and over. Where is the V-sync option?

I should also mention I DL the game from Steam, and it seems buggy as hell. The textures load blurry, if I move quickly textures load afterwards. This feels like an alpha version of a game, I can't believe they released the game this way. I am hoping for a fix soon.

Where is the Crossfire support?

Why is my game crashing like this?

I7-2600k @ 4200 MHz
8G Ram
Dual 6970's
All SSD drives
Win 7 64

Is there a patch incoming soon or something?

I'm also having this problem, have the Steam version of the game, have tried running it twice, I get as far as opening the door to the Stasis pod and it crashes, two other times I didn't even get to that point and the game locked up and crashed. I also have a pretty powerful rig, dual GTX 580's, 3gb VRAM versions, 2600k, Win 7 64, 8 gigs of RAM. Came here looking to see if it was maybe just something with my settings or something but I guess not. I've re-validated my game files and all, still messing up. I am already regretting my purchase of this game.

I have almost the exact same problem, though I have not tried the AMD Catalyst Rage drivers yet. I'm not running Crossfire either, so I doubt that's the problem.

I was really looking forward to playing this tonight, oh well what a disappointment. Maybe they will have a patch by tomorrow night or something, here's hoping for the best.

I turned AA off completely and it let me get a bit farther, but I still get CTD and pop-in and flickering. From all the posts I've been reading it seems it's an AMD graphics problem or perhaps an incorrect download from Steam. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Well, lowering the AA does seem to let the game run, dropped mine down to 4X and I am able to get out the door now, the texture pop in is still atrocious, I can already tell I wish I hadn't bought this game, this is ridiculous.

There is no crossfire support currently. You might try posting your eventviewer log regarding this crash here to discern what the problem really is. I have posted some function Catalyst Control Settings here http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1236319-blinking-textures/

I have the exact same issue. I'm playing it on a laptop, and it seems totally fine in the pod, apart from the framerate stuttering every once in a while, and as soon as I get past the hand, it freezes.

Specs:
Quadcore AMD A8-3500m APU
Radeon 6620G- 512 mb VRAM
4GB RAM

I'm really sad. I've was so excited for this game.....

Using ATI Radeon 4870 x2. Originally game wouldn't even load, but after updating drivers I was able to get it to launch.

However, it now crashes immediately after finishing the asteroid intro.

Any thoughts?

All advice greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Should note that I can launch Multiplayer, though with a very poor framerate.

Same thing: crash after intro. Tried a few different things short of reinstalling, which I'll probably do tomorrow. Love the intro, though...I've seen it almost a dozen times already. And it keeps getting funnier, because I believe it lands on John Carmack's house. I could watch that over and over again.

I'm having the same problem with an NVIDIA GT240 on an XP system. If you're having that problem with an ATI I really don't know what's happening. I installed the new NVIDIA drivers but that hasn't helped.

I'm on a 1.5M connection through the cable company, but the Steam download took me a day and a half, it would come in above 400 speed. Reinstalling is a little out of the question for me.

Hi everyone. I had the same problem. I was able to run the game at the beginning. But the there are some errors with the graphic. However, the program just keep crash everytime after the intro after I used the ATI fix patch.

I just found out that if you use Skidrow's crack, you will actually be able to play. So currently that is what I am doing. Make sure you do back files up before using the crack. Otherwise you may have to download the game again....

I tried changing the resolution on the settings tab and that immediately crashed the game and crashed the 3 additional times I tried it. I'm guessing that the game is trying to change the display settings from the cutscene to the gameplay and that might be causing the crashes. For whatever reason.

I have the same problem with XP 32-bit / 9800GT

The game was crashing every time I started a new game and every time I tried to change the video settings (resolution, AA, and that last GPU option as well). The latter problem was fixed by installing the nVidia 285 beta driver, but the game is still crashing after the intro video.

I never expected the company who brought me to PC gaming in early 90's would disappoint me so much. Today is a sad day.

Yeah mine still doesn't get past the Bethesda, ID, Zinimax intro when starting up the game. It played yesterday and then after i got back from college it started doing this. I've uninstalled the game, drivers, reinstalled.. Just every thing i have found or thought of and none of it has worked. It's just sad, real sad that this crap made it out and in to our hands.

I have an Nvidia 8800 GT .. Vista 32 bit, after the opening meteor crash scene the screen just blacks out.. game crashes.. I guess the meteor took out my video card too.. ha.. ;)

I tried installing the latest beta driver 285.38 but it did not help..

Perhaps they should have name it "Tease" instead of "Rage" ???

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.
