Creation Kit Discussion - What mods you making?

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 5:03 pm

Lemme be the millionth person to say... wth wheres our creation kit? I understsand these things take time, but my chara is dikeed and I want a respec potion... and a airship flying house (or at least it fast travels so I can change scenary like in morrowind)... and mounted combat.... and the ability to transform into a cat as a thief so I can sneak past the guards, and they'll go "what's that noise?! oh a cute little kitty." then BAM I transform and backstab them! ... awesome...

So I wanted to know what mods people are planning are making, and if they have teams or whatever- I'm not a modder (I'll TRY but I won't publish, I know I svck) but I'd like to get an idea of what mods are coming and what to look out for.

Let me just say this-

Would you rather we get the CK sooner, or the game gets patched and everyone can actually play it sooner?

I was thinking about making new spells. Higher-ranked version of some existing spells, possibly some bound elemental weapons, and if I can manage it, a couple of direct damage spells for conjuration, one that shoots ethereal swords like that icicle spell, the other a spray of ethereal arrows. This is assuming, of course, it's easy to add spells, but I'd imagine they wouldn't hard-code too much of it since they'd want to add new spells in DLC, which is just an extra data file loaded like any other mod

Without hesitation this. Why did they release modding resources without any tools to make use of them anyway? Where's the logic in that? ^^

A side story of my own with a sixy female NPC that can be married and some new spells to go along with it. Was thinking a more dark magic theme. I wrote some of my own companions for Oblivion awhile back but didn't really give them story.

CK, namely because I want to add some armors to the craftable list and currently my game is working just fine without need of patches.

So you two would rather get a tool early to allow you to alter the game that already has 500 hours of content. Just because you are in the lucky, like, 5% that aren't experiencing severe issues? Instead of fixing the game so everyone can enjoy it?

Oh I don't even have the game yet. I'm waiting until Creation Kit is out.

And by the way if CK had been released along with the game I'm sure there would be lots of unofficial patches to address those issues (and then some) by now. Not to mention being able to deal with them personally.

Except that about 95% of the issues are engine related, and we can't alter that at all with the CK...

In this case sorry for being ignorant but I'd still rather have CK and moddy goodness to make the waiting for patches a little sweeter.

Craftable arrows, the ability to break down equipment for materials ( albeit at a lower amount than what it takes to make them).

Perhaps the addition of some skills, if it's possible.

Maybe an expanded armor and weapons list.

Oh, and something to fix my menu navigation issues.

First thing I'll do is change the +100% mana regen mask to not be light armor, so I can actually use the mage armor perk. Poorly thought out. Generally just minor tweaks that I find annoying in the game, I've never gotten seriously into modding. If it's possible without extensive use of SKSE, I'll try to make a mod that scales spell damage/magnitudes with your skill level, mainly because lower level spells are still cool and should be useful in later levels. If that fails, well, more spell books with higher leveled versions of lower spell effects. Bit of a lazy fix, but hey.

Respec potions I can't wait for. They should come out pretty quick.

If I had to throw out a guess it would be a potion that gives you back all your Perk points so you can pick them again.

A potion that would allow the players to redistribute perks (and presumably skills).

EDIT: Wow, beaten by two people.

Ah, ok.

My mind wouldn't get around the fact that respec looks like respect. Didn't see 'spec' in the word.

Thanks for clearing that up.

For me I will just be trying to make any mod I can saying I never have made a mod before and want to get into it. Though once I am decent at it maybe make a mod that changes some things with the vampires maybe something that increases the buff but also has some other side effect or maybe something that you can fill with blood so you can drink it later somewhat like azuras star is like.

You think that only 5% of people are problem free? Methinks you're listening to the loud minority. That said, I hope that the 100+ people who created Skyrim are still around to fix their specialties. Bethesda isn't a small office with 4 fat greasy people huddled away working eighteen hours a day in the dark.

I'm sure they have as many people working on the upcoming DLC installments as they do bugfixes. And knowing Beth, get used to a lot of the bugs. They fix a bunch of them, but leave many more for the community to fix.

I'm anxiously awaiting the CK. I enjoy tinkering with the game as much as I do playing it. I'm sorry if you're having problems, and that many other people are as well, but pretending it's an all or nothing thing isn't the best outlook. Too many hands in the pot type situation if they're not managing their people's skill sets well.

Does anyone know if it will be possible to modify the behavior and number of skills? I want my pole arms, and I don't like the simplifying of weapon skills to one handed or two handed.

It wasn't possible in previous games, so that may or may not have changed.

Why am I remembering skill mods in fallout 3? Am I simply misremembering?
