Crossbows have pretty much made ranged Destruction magic obs

you can't possibly think magic in skyrim is worse than Oblivion. that was a disaster.

You smoking some damn good weed if you think Oblivions Destruction magic is inferior to Skyrim's. Please pass that weed man, I want some. Along with everyone on my street.

That was fast! I've had Dawnguard installed for a few months and haven't found any crossbows yet.

There are some just lying around all over the fort.

Some DG specific areas out in skyrim have enemies using them too.

no weed. spellmaking a spell of 100 damage points in range of 100 is NOT a good way of handling destruction magic, just to spam it pressing a button. at least skyrim has the concentration spell system AND a more interesting way of casting projectile spells that require casting time.
besides, we are talking about vanilla games here. the only way Oblivion magic was good was by installing LAME.

If you powerplay the game, destruction in its vanilla state is underwhelming itself.

for RP reasons, it is nice to be an "elementalist"....?h, sorry. Can′t see why destruction is called destruction, it is dumbed down to elementalism.

But the thing is, ranged destruction spells are pointless now. Destruction in this game was always gimped, and the only thing it had going for it was Impacts stagger. Now crossbows can do that, and more often to boot.

Eh, I only use the crossbow when I want to be sneaky. Other than that, I prefer to use destruction magic in combat because of its higher rate of fire, not to mention the fact that reloading the crossbow slows down the player, thus making me a sitting duck.

I agree and disagree. The two have their own specific purposes in my experience but yeah they are both ranged combat.
