Crysis 2's Graphical Dependencies

Post » Fri Jun 18, 2010 7:21 am

Will Crysis 2, running on the new and improved Cry-Engine 3 be less dependent on a computers graphics and processor systems than Crysis 1 was. Also will the higher graphical settings (as in running Crysis 2 on ultra settings) be as harsh on your computer. Discus!

No and Yes. Its already been said by Crytek that they scale well to lower hardware, but dont expect to be able to crank it all the way up without a supercomputer or $2000. :P

agreed, crytek said the minimum system requirements were reduced, and it's kinda obvious that they have many graphical improvements over crysis 1, but you can expect to need a very powerful computer to play at those higher settings.

I still got my 5770 which suits me perfectly, I may upgrade to a 5870 later on though.

Would a GTX 260 suffice?

Probably. Maybe a GTX280 if you expect a bit more than usual.

I usually run Crysis on Very High @ 1440x900 w/ 2xAA and get around 40FPS as an average.... I'd probably get a little boost with CE3

Not looking to sound like an ass, but just check for yourself some comparison images between crysis and crysis 2. The latter has to render much less, and (to my eyes) with much less quality, there's even no (or little to none) motion blur. No wonder cryengine 3 is said to run better, it is less powerful than Cryengine 2 despite what Crytek said. I'm really disappointed, I really was looking for Crysis 2 to claim the crown again in technical prowess.

Well...atleast it doesn't look like MW2... Dude, it's not a total loss, we have better performance. You can't have everything you know, they slightly dumb down the graphics to give a performance boost. Don't forget that they're doing most of this to improve sales, thus moving towards the consoles.

Thats because all the footage we've seen is the console port. Wait till you see it on PC its going to look amazing. Consoles will never have the technical prowess over the PC.

I agree with Xemozu. I'm not impressed. Crysis 1 still looks better. Crysis 2 MP just looked ugly. It reminds me of Urban Terror. And whats up with the way overdone bloom? Lighting looked like crap.

As if we all look for graphical fidelity in the multiplayer kuro... I think most of us would trade in for more frames in the multiplayer. Hell, everyone plays Crysis Wars on low anyway.

I think the Singleplayer is where the graphics will really shine. Multiplayer doesn't need awesome graphics because most people would prefer a smooth experience.

My Computer Specs are a AMD Phenom x4 oc'ed with manufacture heatsink to 3.27Ghz GB Ram 2.7 VRam with my nvidia geforce GTS250 I can run Crysis 1 at 1680x1050 high with 4 aliasing and have a decent 30fps but it drops with lots of explosions if i use every thing on very high but the shader at medium and 4 anti-aliasing then i get like 80fps. i think i may be able to run crysis 2 at high with full aliasing but i may be wrong. I am panning on getting another 4gb Ram and oceing the CPU to 4ghz with a after market cooler

The main attraction of C2 is what I think is the really good urban graphics, and the ability to destroy the urban settings easily. But I fear that all the physics + graphics will just look bad on console. But as said, I would rather really good multiplayer than perfect graphics. (on pc especially)

"Cryengine 3 would render nearly twice as many fps as the CE2 at comparable graphics quality." source:

http://www.pcgameshardware.com/aid,768604/Crysis-2-Everything-about-DirectX-11-3D-without-perfomance-drop-and-8-core-optimization/News/

And they've been demoing on a 260GTX apparently so it would suffice just fine, albeit no DX11.

A quick question, sometimes when I start up my comp ill hear a slight rattling/buzzing noise, which after a little time just fades out and goes back to normal. Could this be to do with the fan inside my case, on the processor or is there something else I should know??

Please reply asap. Thanks.

could be your graphics card fan running at full speed then going to normal mine does that. or you may have a wire in the fan but open it up and check to make sure there is no interference

I hope crysis 2 looks better than crysis or we are going down, maybe am wrong, but the idea it's get better, so in my opinion is going to be able to run crysis 2 on a core 2 duo but the i7's are going to cry at full.

i'm gonna run this on very high @ 1080p with 4x anti aliasing, i have a macbook 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo with 1gb ram and GMA 950 with 64MB of shared VRAM, and it will run at about 60fps.

PS. i'm not serious
