Crysis 2 multiplayer lack everything that was best in Crysis

Post » Thu Jun 17, 2010 7:53 pm

Im copying something that I wrote yesterday, because its better place for it:
Im very, very sad because of what I saw on video from multiplayer. Everything that was best in Crysis 1 was thrown away and replaced by boring CoDMW2-like game style. This style is ok for CoD, but not for Crysis. Its not dynamic anymore, there is no laser anymore, weapons aren't accurate, ppl move very slowly... Its boring scheme: spot enemy, stand, aim, shot. WHY??!!! And what was that thing at the end? Gun ship? Kill strike? srsly WTF? I'm still going to buy this game, but just because Crysis 1 was so awesome. Crysis 1 was special, Crysis 2 looks like its going to be just another CoD future warfare. Why not to keep all things that we love Crysis 1 for? I hope they change these few things and make the best FPS game ever. Watch gamescom 2010 video and tell me do you guys agree with me, or not?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vv1VkmbgnOs

I can already see that many ppl agree with me. Maybe when Crytek notice that players want something different, they will change at least something, or show us in another gameplay video that we are wrong to worry about C2 MP. So please write what you think about it.
Thanks!

What was so good about Crysis'/Crysis Wars' gameplay to begin with? The multiplayer was severely unbalanced and really bland.

I agree 100%. I hope strafe jumping is still in Crysis 2.

You sure laser is gone?

Vanilla Crysis Multi had the best gameplay. I don't mean PowerStruggle, I mean the actual gunfight gameplay.

I found the gunfight gameplay bland. Most of the times it was everyone pointing their SCARS and only SCARS at each other. Using the nanosuit made it a bit less bland I guess.

No offense to anyone (i play Crysis Wars all the time), but the multiplayer was a big fail. Moving away from the failure of Crysis and Crysis Wars is fine for me, as long as Crysis 2 doesnt fail harder. :)

The Live Demo at GDC was slow in comparison to our play tests, they didn't make full use of all of the Nanosuit 2.0's functions. Once you guys get your hands on it you will see for yourself - the MP is fast, fun and furious.

thats what i thought, i barely saw hem using speed/strengt mode, only armor and cloack

and ofc there will be more attachments, scopes lazers and what else. they focus on customazibility with the modoules of nanosuit and then they wont make weapon attachments?? dont think so

Also, one of the cool and awesome things I liked about crysis was the motion blur. I haven't seen any thus far.

If you want real STRATEGY - NON MW2 run n em up shooter gameplay.... Play some Americas Army 3. Its free and everyone uses a MIC for it is vital to survive and communicate such as Enemy east/west etc....To me run em up gunners arent as fun as strategy FPS, actually working as a TEAM!

If crytek keeps in it's style, I think the "killstreaks" are more likely to be like the points in power struggle (points stay, at least to some extent, after you die) this would get rid of campers because you can die and still get to use the award.

Yes, Im very happy to read that too.
IMO the best thing in Crysis is as evideus said "actual gunfight gameplay". Crysis 2 seemed not to have that kind of gameplay. What do you thing was bad in Crysis? Tanks and Vtols (I hate this detail)? PS mode?
I know they were using damn pads, but still at least somebody could show some fast move and if there is laser in Crysis 2, why nobody out of all players on the video used it? Weapons seem to be very inaccurate and players need to zoom first then shot (just like in MW2).
I hope Crytek will prove me wrong.

Note that Crysis 1 multiplayer did have and still has the best gunfight game play. The PS was severely imbalanced because of tanks and vtols on most maps, but a good game of PS on refinery was some of the most fun I've ever had on any video game. In those days there was good teamwork to be found if you played with mid level or better players. You moved in small groups to capture bunkers and the proto primarily, and there was alot of flanking both to the sides and vertically.

If you remember correctly it was not the scar or the fy that was overused in C1, but the smg. A small patch with a slight increase to the accuracy of the scar, the power of the fy, and the rate of fire of the shotgun would have balanced the gun fight game play perfectly IMO. The recoil was nice and realistic with a low spread compared to Wars (this encouraged careful aiming).

The armor system was better in C1 than in Wars too. The armor itself gave you more protection, but when u had none you died faster. Now it is the other way around. The armor is weak but the HP is is higher so when you use all your energy you still survive better (relatively). The downside is that in Wars you die much faster, which was intended to give beginners a better chance to get kills. But in reality it just allows the experienced players to get a kill before the other player can respond. This isn't a problem with equal ping, but across the ocean you are dead before you see the shot fired on your end.

Crysis wars gave us better performance, the auto-downloader, TIA, and much better balance with tanks and aircraft...so it is likely the better online game overall. But it definitely lacks the excellent core gun fight game play from C1. This is why Wars Ex was developed..to merge the best of C1 gun fighting with the better components of Wars. Unfortunately there aren't enough players to feed either Ex or Wars and both are practically dead except for the most loyal.

I see some features in C2 that bring back some of the feel of C1 gunfights, but without playing it I can't judge the balance and feel of the weapons. My worry centers around the simplification of the nano suit and I worry that there is less maneuverability in C2 compared to C1 and Wars. Time will tell.

The only reason I play crysis/wars is for the multiplayer game play. Its one of a kind, and sadly can't anything else like it on any other game. Depending on how crysis 2 turns out I may end up continually playing crysis wars for a few more years. I absolutly hate ranking setups and unlockables. In BC2 the moment I unlocked everything I stopped playing it. I had no more reason to. Unlock systems and ranks destroy the game play experience.

I prefer inserting fishhooks into my genitals over MW2.
Honestly, that game is so rediculously unbalanced, nothing else could be similar.
