If CryTek wanted to make its fans REALLY mad, this is the wa

So, as I am sure you all know, a small group of people got an invite to the beta. I being one of them. And I don't own an Xbox 360. I mean, COME ON CRYTEK????? Who are you kidding? The Xbox 360? I mean, the PC would have been a FAR better choice, and I am saying that! I have a PC that can hardly run CoD4!

You guys had better get this straight, or you will have a mob on your hands. Get us the Pc and PS3 betas NOW. I mean, really? The Xbox 360 is the worst looking out of all three! I was going to wait and play the Beta before I decided to get the game. Now I am rethinking the whole thing.

"Badly done, CryTek. Badly done indeed."

I was a little disappointed by this announcement myself... especially being a core PC gamer. Stepping back, however, this is their best chance of marketing a sequel to a fresh environment while still holding their core community together. They NEED to get console fans hooked on it in some way, shape, or form and this is, sadly, the best way for them to do it. Get the footage of console gameplay on popular sites like Gametrailers, gamespot, kotaku, etc, etc and get console gamers into it. Us PC gamers already know it's going to be amazing so why fret? We'll get the beta eventually ourselves. What the re-launch of this site could have done to make this a little less nerve-wracking was to ask us members which platform we own/intend to play Crysis 2 on and use that data to send out the invite... that way people such as myself who do not own a 360 wouldn't be holding up a valuable beta key for someone who does.

The only problem with that, is the fact that there are a lot fo PS3 owners too, and I am one of them.

Read my newest post, it will explain a little more of how I think this will turn out

Yeah, I being a PS3 owner, would really like it if they released it for PS3 as well. Granted there aren't as many people on the PS3 than there are on the Xbox 360, but even then, all gaming consoles, including PCs, should get a beta code.

Plus, my 360 is busted and I cant use it until I pay $50 to get it fixed. XD

I was a bit unhappy also after my initial excitement was zapped realizing I have overlooked the xbox bit and assumed it would be PC.

As a multi player test its common sense to use a console. as with any test variables are not good. and by using the console version you take away all the different variables that you have with the millions of configurations of PC.

It's sad to see that great games are not the product of market demand these days and it seems only a few small companies can great what we describe as epic. Hopefully this is not a lean for crytek toward the mon-bland of the mass market and just a logical choice for a test..

Since the "mature" PC and PS3 players are too lazy

From Cry-Lee
Hi guys, just to clear something up, this is not the Beta that people signed up to the website for, that will be happening later. This is a Closed MP Test event. This is mainly to 'stress test' our servers and to see how the game reacts to X amount of users playing it at once.

If you do receive an email with an invitation, please make sure that you are able to participate, you will need:

An Xbox360
An Xbox Live Gold account

Good luck to everyone!
Speaking of Crying.... why in the world would you not own a 360 at this point? Are you people afraid it will stain your hands, maybe you'll like it and your PC will hate you for it and kill its self. I know you spent $600 on that brand new killer GPU and you can't seem to find $200 left over for an entire system... thats got to be it!

uh, yeah? why would we waste $200 bucks on a 360 when we could spend it on better parts for a better PC? as far as I'm concerned $200 for a 360 is $200 down the drain.

It needs to be ramped up. You don't go from 0 to 200,000 people. Test it with a controlled number then maybe we'll see an open beta or they can extrapolate the numbers from this test.

I got invited too. I have crysis for the PC, which was amazing. This is a low blow to the PC gaming community. I smell Microsoft(the xbox branch). Only way for me to use it would to give it to my friend and play it at their house as i only have a mid line(higher portion) gaming computer.

Um closed betas don't go for a week and close down. Open beta do. Open beta are available for everyone and are temporary and only used to build excitement for the game by letting people try it before they buy it. A PC beta may be in the future though. I mean from an optimistic standpoint maybe they are just having technical difficulties because hardware and software varies significantly from PC-PC whereas xbox is one set of hardware, one set of software.

There are likely more to come with the beta invites. I'm sure there will be more platforms on the way. This seems a little hasty posting f lamming like you.are. Much better beta process than most companies. And for a game that most console gamers never heard of, it's probably a good idea to test consoles first. To build hype and to work out any serious bugs.

I'm pretty sure the folks at Crytek already know how to develop for the PC ;)

And as far as I'm concerned, paying monthly bills for internet just to have to pay a subscription for Xbox Live to utilize any connection is a complete waste of money. Xbox Live is the exact reason I bought a Playstation 3 instead, because atleast I'm not getting ripped off every month.

It absolutely amazes me how some people hear a piece of info and flip out. You people say that if crytek doesn't do things your way then there will be "a mob" or something stupid. People flipped out when dedicated servers got pulled for mw2 and I do believe it had little to no real impact. Stop making threads full of empty threats and realize more info will come later. Im sure ps3 or pc will get some sort of bone, its just a waiting game right now. If not, then go buy the game cuz crytek never HAD to give you anything.
I personally would love to do a beta on my pc, my gtx 460 is itchin for a challenge but ah well. I got a 360 so it all works out.

Just plz people, look at the greater picture here and don't be so selfish that you put off a "what's in it for me" vibe. Its a high school mentality that is beneficial to outgrow ASAP.

Ali Cat, it'd probably be quit exhausting ;)

Its amusing all this. When Crytek do one thing, is suddenly considered controversy by the majority. Or maybe its just the minority, hopefully.

It is not the actual beta. And I think it should be strictly defined between the beta and the current testing. Because it brings this problem of whining about other systems not getting it.
What is happening now, is a multiplayer test, period. Not a beta. If it was the beta it would be called that. There is absolutely no benefit mislabelling it as a test rather than a beta.
No one has lost out yet of playing the game before release in a beta or otherwise.
Too bad there is not a drill bit long enough to get this information into some peoples heads.

Why are some people even getting so worked up about all this anyway?
Your all (most) crazy. :p
