They sound worse than they look...better than Oblivion at least.

I agree with you. I really, really do not like how they sound at all.

Yeah. Old and ugly...
I found myself staring at those eyes for half an hour once. I was very confused.

I looked through a couple of ES wikis and its pretty sad what happened to Morrowind and the Dunmer since Oblivion. Huge disaster followed by Argonians taking advantage of the situation and doing a genocide/ethnic cleansing on the few remaining Dark Elves. Sad to think that the amazing Morrowind of ES III is gone forever.

But they change, and they survive.

I believe it's a cockney accent, commonly associated with the lower class. Given the Dunmer are refugees, it seems fitting.
Morrowind's a big place, there could be all sorts of accents.

I love the dark elves, but the male dark elves look a bit old, which is why I made a female character. I dont have a problem with girls, but seriously there must be some way to change this? Im not sure if its already in the game or not, but thats my only real problem with them and i would like to see it fixed.

You ain't got no alibi, you're ugly!

Sorry mate, Dunmers are meant to look like a truck went through their face. Their ancestors have been cursed, the Imperials outlawed enslavement of the beast races, their home got destroyed and life seriously svcks if everyone hates your guts. I bet they only haven't killed themselves to spite other races with being alive.

It was probably the same person who decided to give the children an American accent. Although I'm not too sure on what type of accent it is, not living in the US and all...

I tried to make mine look like Drizzt Do'Urdan... who cares if he looks older, aslong as he looks like a BOSS!

me too, but drizzt has purple eyes, and darker skin than they allow ;[ and their's no scimitars or swords even close to his weapons unfortunately, it's an extreme stretch trying to play as him. No ranger armor/attire really that fits his style either. If you could change armor color's it'd be a little easier I could just change a hood to black and light leather armor to black and bam, it's close enuff, instead Im stuck rocking a novice hood (tan) and imperial light armor lol.

Nope, the Dunmer were cursed by Azura for their betrayal of Nerevar at Red Mountain. They used to be Chimer who were more like the Altmer in appearance.
Okay, you're not entirely wrong. The orcs weren't exactly cursed, but they were changed when Boethiah ate their god Trinimac, then pooed out Malacath.

Well in Morrowind there was at least one Dunmer who was over 4000 years old, maybe he wasn't the only one

I enjoy my dark elf character. I like the unique look they got (no they're not glamorous, it gives them character), but yeah.... that age thing. I wish there was a slider for age. Anything but the one 'you're old' option. I thought the same thing of my first created character. He's a Nord, and I kept wondering if I could get him to look any less than 45+ years of age. Seems they should be getting ready to retire, not start a new career.

Just because something is "cursed" doesn't mean it has to look ugly and old. I like how they look in Skyrim, I've even gotten used to the over-sized brows. All this guy is asking for and all I'm asking for is a way to make them look younger. In fact, there should have been an age slider for all the races. That was one of my biggest let downs, although it didn't break the game for me. Hopefully someone can get a mod to get rid of those wrinkles.

Here, this is as young as I could get my dark elf. Obviously, using warpaint helps.

Well, I suppose black hair would help too, but I like silver.

In Skyrim Dunmer Males look like The Master, or a dozen other vampires who appeared in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Female Dunmers lokk like Hags. Or slightly more attractive Orcs.

They're nowhere near their more suave cousins from Morrowind. But actually have a bit of racial individuality, compared to their Oblivion ancestors.

That looks great! :ooo: Are you on a pc? I'm on ps3 and have an hdtv and spent over an hour or so trying to make one look that good. I gave up and went with a nord.
I'm on PS3 too (I actually got that off of UESP, but she looks just as good on my 48" plasma), and that's Karliah, not my character. Shame you can't use violet eyes for player-made Dunmer. Either way, Karliah is easily one of my favorite characters in Skyrim.

This is a race of ritualists and slavers that openly dealt with Tamriel's "darker" forces in the name of their own superiority for crying out loud. Now, they're that, and a bunch of hardened refugees with no land nor title to their collective name. Dunmer are supposed to be rugged-looking. Ash and heat combined with a hundred year life span isn't good for the skin.

i would have liked an age slider too but after putting in 200+ hours into my save It's not much a deal breaker for me anymore.

What I would have liked is more males to become marriageable instead of the bigger amount for females. Cause like female marrying a female doesn't feel right...unless ofc in those times it was accepted idk.

Also, to be able to have children would have been nice.

I have a hdtv and the textures at character creation and on npcs in the game have a grid-like pattern on their faces. Like their skin is laying over a wire mesh frame. Was kind of disappointed to see that in the creation screen.

Does Malur Seloth remind anyone of Beast, from Xmen?

http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Malur_Seloth

I also would have liked some kind of age slider.

I spent a while trying to make my Nord look younger than 45 years old but gave up. I made 3 different Nord and they all have wrinkles.

While I think it would be nice to see my character's face in dialogue, I feel better about my Nord when I'm seeing the back of his head, covered with a helmet, and not his aged appearance.
