Dark Elf Males Look Too Old..

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 12:56 am

I love the dark elves, but the male dark elves look a bit old, which is why I made a female character. I dont have a problem with girls, but seriously there must be some way to change this? Im not sure if its already in the game or not, but thats my only real problem with them and i would like to see it fixed.

Not to mention the fact that they look creepy too. Maybe the cold weather does that to them..

They sound worse than they look...better than Oblivion at least.

This is what they're meant to look like.

The pudding people in Oblivion were the exception, not the rule.

The females do too, but I guess that's the "creepy, grizzly" look Dark Elves are known for..

I personally like the Dunmer in Skyrim. The good majority of them are refugees and fighters, so it stands to reason that they'd be hardened people. The only that bugs me is one of the generic male voice actors - the one with the bad Aussie/English accent that seems to voice every male Dunmer in the game.

The Dark Elves can make the Orcs seem positively fresh-faced and apple-cheeked in this game.

I agree with this statement. The females look too manly.

My High Elf female looks really old also....In fact every charcter in the game looks kind of old...Look at the female NPCs that are in the game...even the young ones look like ex-crackheads....I think Bethesda was going for the weathered look since Skyrim is such a harsh environment.....Or at least thats what I tell myself.

Mine looks middle-aged, if he were human I'd put him at forty-ish.
It makes sense that the Dunmer are a haggard-looking people when you think about it, A: they've been at war or fighting with the various monsters that live (or should I say lived?) in Morrowind for pretty much their entire history, B: they're cursed, they're not meant to be pretty, and C: they're a refugee people in a land that's largely unfriendly to their kind.

I tried to make mine look like Drizzt Do'Urdan... who cares if he looks older, aslong as he looks like a BOSS!

That looks great! :ooo: Are you on a pc? I'm on ps3 and have an hdtv and spent over an hour or so trying to make one look that good. I gave up and went with a nord.

If you're on PC it's easily fixable with a mod.

Personally I much much prefer the way they look in Skyrim over the blue smurf look they had in Oblivion. It gives the Dunmer more character then in Oblivion, character which they had in games before Oblivion as well. Also, the look fits their nature and heritage quite well imho.

Apple-cheeked? Well, I guess Granny Smiths are a type of apple...

Maybe their older appearance is a side effect of Red Mountain exploding.

I looked through a couple of ES wikis and its pretty sad what happened to Morrowind and the Dunmer since Oblivion. Huge disaster followed by Argonians taking advantage of the situation and doing a genocide/ethnic cleansing on the few remaining Dark Elves. Sad to think that the amazing Morrowind of ES III is gone forever.

Elves can live for centuries. They're all probably really old anyway.

Agreed. When somebody on the UESP forums mentioned the book that detailed what happened, I was hoping it wouldnt be considered canon.
