Dawnguard should not be allowed to turn into a vampire lord

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 6:12 am

This takes away the main reason for even joining the vampires. The most the vampires get are some things that make it a bit more effective, but not enough to justify giving this ability to the dawnguard. I don't see vampires getting crossbows, and being allowed to smith crossbows and crossbow bolts, so why are the dawnguard getting the ability to transform into a vampire lord? If Bethesda won't let the vampires permanently block out the sun then the least they could do is give players who join the vampires exclusivity to the vampire lord form.

Huh, I would find it weird that a character who's a vampire HUNTER, would take on the very curse that they are trying to eliminate.

You don't have to, but the fact that dawnguard even gets the option is ridiculous. Why take away the main reason to join the vampires?

Well, Harkon more or less forces himself on you, and you do get the option to get rid of it, so there's roleplaying potential there.
"Oh no, now I'm a monster! I need to cure myself of this before it consumes me!"
Stuff like that.

Yeah, when I read that Dawnguard members could become VL's later on, it pissed me off. I literally played through the VL questline for like 14 hours straight, and I'm not planning on loading up a save from that far back.

I understand, but that still doesn't justify it. You can deny Harkon and leave when you first go there. That's where the questlines split. The people that side with Harkon should be the only ones able to turn into vampire lords.

Well...In that case, I can offer this bit of wisdom...

IT'S A SINGLE PLAYER GAME.
*puts it away*
...What some other schmuck does in his game, no matter the choice is their business...Getting all bent out of shape over something that impacts you only merely emotionally, is a personal hangup, and offers no wisdom or value.

Well, in that case I, as a vampire, would like to smith crossbows and crossbow bolts. Also, I realize it's a single player game, but making one questline completely inferior to the other is just bad designing.

This... Vampires should be able to craft crossbows and bolts as well.

Whether it's inferior or superior depending on which side gets the [censored]ing crossbow crafting is a matter of opinion...
Personally, I find bows to be superior.
I am literally rolling by eyes that this Crossbow nonsense is such a deal breaker. Materialism.

And also a good point, bethesda made this dlc seem so vampire focused but its more dawnguard. I don't understand why bethesda decided to take away a highly asked for weapon from certain players.

Either you don't understand or you're just fanatically defending Bethesda's stupid design choice. I think it may be the latter.

So you completely support vampires getting screwed over, while dawnguard gets most of the benefits?

Dont nerf the DG; give all the crossbow types and bolts and armored trolls to the Vampires too. And Face-changes OFC.

I would say that I don't understand why the Crossbows are such a big deal. I still got one as a vampire. It's a basic one, but I still have one. It does it's job as a weapon, but I am not holding it aloft as though it is the reason I bought the DLC.

So then you want your hands Tied... To be led and not have the inclination to decide if you want to or not... Restrictions on how you play in your sandbox... ppl say they want features and when they do get them they complain... Fickle, I say... IMO
