Dawnguard or Vampire Lord?

See, people keep saying this but I was already a regular vampire before Dawnguard so do the Dawnguard cure you or just accept a vampire to kill other vampires?
They'll get pissed. But Serana doesn't give it to you until after the mq, so it shouldn't be an issue.

But if you become a Vampire at the end of the Dawnguard quests, if you should lose a troll or follower during combat, you can't get any more because the Dawnguard get very unhappy with your decision.

Can't you only craft Enhanced steel and upwards crossbows at Gunmar's forge too?

Yup. I'm not sure if that's still available if you become a vampire after completing the Dawnguard side or not...

I hope not. There would be a reason not to become a VL then.

i think they make you cure yourself when on the finding recruits mission (forget name) but then before entering the soul cairn serana will offer to turn you and any time after that you can ask her to be turned

Vampire Lord gets you Serana as a companion, that was enough for me to do the vampire quest line first. =P
Both sides get Serana as a companion. They also both get to be VL's.

If both sides get to be VLs, how is that balanced? Both sides should be equal but different. I guess I'll just refuse to let any character who goes Dawnguard be a VL, they don't deserve it.

I originally intended to join the Dawnguard, but my boner forced me to join Serana and the vampires
