Vampire Lord gets you Serana as a companion, that was enough for me to do the vampire quest line first. =P

You get a crossbow at the start of the DLC...so yeah.

>_>

Vampires can get it.

Definitely Dawnguard, you cannot make your own CBOW bolts if you're a vampire.

Apparently you can still become a VL even if you join the Dawnguard.

Vampires can get the regular steel crossbow but cannot forge the crossbow or make bolts.

you can be a dawnguard vamp lord, you just have to say no to harkon and you'll get a chance to be a vamp lord later while working for the dawnguard

Very few people have maxed out the VL skill tree since you have to kill people with the powerful drain life spell to get xp in the skill tree that lets you choose perks.

People are waiting til they can do that before they say if its better or not.

But IMO..its cooler than what the Dawnguard has but thats just me.

I also like the new model they gave the Volkihar vampires..though supposedly if serana turns you instead of Harkon you get a different appearance...normal form not VL..VL prolly will be the same.

Definitely Dawnguard, you cannot make your own CBOW bolts if you're a vampire.

But with the power of the Vampire Lord, why do you need a puny crossbow?

Vampire Lord, all the way.

Yes.

One of the VL perks is to summon a Gargoyle. If you do the radiant quests, you get an amulet that allows you to summon two of them at once.

Dawnguard gives you both Vampire Lord and Serana, in addition to a plethora of other things. It hands down has more perks overall.

But if you become a Vampire at the end of the Dawnguard quests, if you should lose a troll or follower during combat, you can't get any more because the Dawnguard get very unhappy with your decision.

See, people keep saying this but I was already a regular vampire before Dawnguard so do the Dawnguard cure you or just accept a vampire to kill other vampires?
