Dawnguard was GREAT but it just svcks

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 1:40 am

for me. Dawnguard is an excellent DLC for lots of people, the quests were great and well over 20 hours for me.

But it has nothing for me, for me anyway.

I could care less about Auriel's bow, I'm a mage I'm never going to use it.

I'm a mage and I'm not being a vampire so I joined the Dawnguard.

Funny thing is, you get super awesome dragonbone weapons, and armour and crossbows. You also get a few measly spells that only hurt vampires, and a few conjuration spells. No new mage clothes or any updates to magic really.

Dawnguard is great, just not for me, honestly not for any mage looking for anything special.

Auriel's bow, crossbows...its good for archers though.

Not complainin' just sayin'.

Your title makes no sense. Make new characters for it, don't just play a mage. I also have a feeling we are going get alot of mages goodys in next DLC.

How? It's great piece of gear, but how does it break them.

There are a few magic related in the Vamp Side I believe.
And if you really don't want to stay a Vamp, just cure it after the MQ.

Dawnguard isn't a mage DLC, wait for the next one if you don't want to start a new character.

No, no it doesn't.

On topic though it is a very Warrior/Vampire centric DLC. Only very minor Mage content added to the game.

This, Hearthfire is rumored to be a magic focused DLC.

Use your brain, why would I want to be warrior or make new characters from the one where i got 70+ hours on? I'm not making a new character for a DLC and being a mage is the only character for me.

I bet Hearthfire will balance Destruction and even give you a 500% Magicka regen, %20 Magicka Absorb, 40% damage reflect and +250 magicka robe. Don't hold me to that!

Hopefully next DLC allows mana regen enchants to be useful. Fix all of destruction's quirks, and adds spell creation!

I've been going through the College quests again. I wonder if the Psijic Order will have some part to play in the potential "Hearthfire" DLC?

I was always pissed off I couldn't snag one of those robes.

Then I guess the fault is on your end for being so stubborn. Too bad for you, I guess.

The ring of erudite on the Vampire side is an amazing item for a mage.

God so many people having problems with the Dawnguard I would KILL (not literally you get what I mean) for the DLC to be on the PC right now. I feel sad now :(

As people said in the topic Hearthfire will most likely involve magic.

They can't please everyone all the time, man. Just wait it out, there's been too much fan hate over the treatment magic got in vanilla so your time will come with future DLC. Failing that, Morrowind is backwards compatible now, go play that and you'll have more magical options that you can shake a stick at.

I was stunned how powerful the VL magic was. I remember when I first took it for a test drive after the tutorial "right, let's see what this can REALLY do. Charge drain ball, cast... HOLY OVERPOWEREDNESS BATMAN!!!" :o

I only need another 3-4 perks before I have the lot. It's my favourite method of night travel, and anything that moves (including teh bunnehs) gets drain balled. Or vamp grip launched :D

Hopefully next DLC allows mana regen enchants to be useful. Fix all of destruction's quirks, and adds spell creation!

Fortify Magicka Regeneration enchants are useful, you just have to have a big enough Magicka pool to really see the benefit. My Argonian Mage stacks Fortify Magicka/Fortify Magicka Regen enchants, and he can regen large amounts of Magicka rapidly, even in combat. Want to know something awesome? The Vampire Lord Form doesn't suffer from the Combat Regeneration Penalty. They regenerate 3% of their max Magicka every second baseline. Add 2/2 Recovery perk to that, 4.5% of your Magicka every second. Add the Ring of the Erudite to that, and it get's [censored] ridiculous. My Argonian Mage in VL Form can use Vampiric Grip to toss something up in the air on a flat plain, and he's already regenerated all of his Magicka back before they even hit the ground.

I was stunned how powerful the VL magic was. I remember when I first took it for a test drive after the tutorial "right, let's see what this can REALLY do. Charge drain ball, cast... HOLY OVERPOWEREDNESS BATMAN!!!"
You should see how ridiculous "Drain Life" is in VL Form when you have the "Blood of the Ancients" buff from the Bloodstone Chalice, when it lasts 5 days. Lol.
