Daylight Saving Time

I wish they'd get rid of this DST thing. It's not needed anymore, if it ever really was.

I concur. Time for DST to go away. Not that it effects me personally, I just think it's stupid!

actually it is needed. i work in retail and whether or not we have an hour more of day light while our store is open can make the difference in whether or not we reach our budget. there are lots of other occupations which are made immeasurably easier when you have an extra hour of day light, such as agriculture.

just because its just a minor inconvenience to you does not mean it should be eliminated when its a great benefit to others.

So wish they would shelve it in this country (or California at least). It doesn't save energy (it raised it a few percent in the summer as a matter of fact), accidents and health problems increase right after it starts and it screws up my sleeping for about a month. Takes me that long to readjust (although I really don't sleep well again until fall). I would move to Arizona or Hawaii if I could. Only sane states in the country where this issue is concerned (they don't observe it).

Uhg, I heard SO MANY SIRENS yesterday. It was like a nonstop sirenathon. I couldn't help but think "This is all DST's fault!"

I totally forgot about daylight savings time on the 11th. But I like that it gets light outside later in the morning because I'm a night owl.

Why not just put the clocks forward half an hour and leave them there rather than, back and forward, back and forward, back and forward, back and forward :bonk:

I wish they'd get rid of this DST thing. It's not needed anymore, if it ever really was. State of AZ has been fine without it, the rest of us would be too.

I also wish they'd give it a rest: the twice-yearly palaver with the clocks has always been a nuisance. I can't even remember the reasons for introducing summer time over here, though busybodies like the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents seems to think it's a good thing for morning drivers to be deprived of an hour's sleep at the same time as having their commute plunged back into darkness.

Of course some loons want summer time to be in effect all year round, citing all sorts of excuses from agreeing with RoSPA to claiming it'll make business with Europe easier, though the ever-present cynic in me says that they're also just interfering busybodies who have a puritanical drive to see people dragged out of bed at an uncomfortable hour. The Scots are always up in arms about such a suggestion, understandably, since given their latitude it would see an unpleasantly late sunrise in the depths of winter.

There's a convenient solution for those who want to start earlier, and that's the alarm clock! Leave the rest of us alone...
