Dead Space 3 news

Apparently there is an article related to dead space 3 coming out:http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/05/09/dead-space-3-allegedly-features-co-op

Plus there are some new images released for DS3. Don't know if I can post them on this thread so if a mod tells me I can, I'll post them here but if not, PM me for the images.

Why does everything need co-op or multiplayer?

From that article, it doesn't sound like it's going to be good. "Sometimes steel walls appear around Issac", "spinning top"? O_o

Yeah, I'll pass.

Leave it to modern gaming to take something as simple as a compromised space ship horror and turn it into a long, degenerating series of-Oh wait, Alien did this too.

I didn't like the first Dead Space or the second. I don't think I'll care for this one.

Now, now, the three movies movies, the only ones that exist featuring those aliens, aren't that bad

Anyway on topic: Co-op?! First multiplayer to steal resources away from the SP, and now co-op to ruin what remains of the SP campaign. Nice :goodjob: I hope that when you play alone there's a permanent AI partner that wastes ammo by shooting you in the back constantly, like in RE5. Bonus points if those shots do damage!

I heard decent things about the first one, and I wanted to get it, but I heard it was a poor port to PC from console

I heard the same about the second one. Personally, that one, besides maybe the premise, doesn't look too interesting -- it looks like they took one concept and stretched it to be almost the entirety of the game

If they happen to make the PC version nicely playable, and put significantly more effort, I'd love to play it

I loved the first Dead Space; it was one of the best gore fests I've experienced in gaming. The problem is that because it was so successful, now EA feels the need to add tons of convoluted plot devices and draw it out with many sequels in order to milk the living [censored] out of it.

Just read this, that co-op is going to [censored] svck balls.
How can you actually make a horror/survival/strategy game effective by throwing in a second person, it's not possible. Anytime a second player joins they either ruin the atmosphere or they ruin the atmosphere...Then there is the 2nd player using a mic, oh dear God what a way to kill immersion.
It'll be like Res5, creepy dark alley way, BANG! A big black monster appears and will take some thinking to kill....Player-2 launches an RPG with unlimited ammo at it and kills it in 1.......:brokencomputer:

Never played Deadspace. Don't really like the sound of drop-in drop-out co-op. But have heard a lot of things about Deadspace 1 and 2.

Worth a look?

Dead Space 1 is definetly worth a look, has to be one of my best Xbox games.
Dead Space 2 is also worth a look but isn't as creepy in comparison to the first one.

Let's turn a horror game with shooting into a shooting game with horror.

Once you start having human enemies with guns, the game stops being a horror game. I never considered FEAR to be a horror game. It was a shooter with horror elements.

The only thing, I think, that Dead Space 3 will have left in terms of scaring the player is instant deaths from bosses.

Well if you ask me, they did that in the last levels of the first one already :hehe:

Starting from the "End of Days" chapter the fights were so big that any suspence flew right trough the window, like enemies in DS2 after a well placed shot ^_^

But that's EA's MO. I just wish EA would die. They're like necromorphs.

I really have a bad feeling about this. It seems Dead Space 3 is going to be more an action- third person shooter than a horror game. Your character can take cover, do evasive rolls, and you will be fighting humans. :meh:
Don't think I'll be buying this one.

They said it would be a trilogy way back in 2009.

Anyway, can't wait to hear more. Dead Space and Dead Space 2 are both really great games. The addition of multiplayer in Dead Space 2 was a good move, and I've got no doubt that Visceral can pull off co-op in a horror game.

This.

I loved the first DS. Have yet to play the second but it's on my list. I played all the way through the Android DS game as well and it was surprisingly good. Almost identical in terms of gameplay to the original and incredible graphics for a mobile game.

I've only played the first and around the 5th mission I was stick awhile because of the regenerating immortal necro mutant and very finite ammo.

Still I really liked the atmosphere which most horror game sits all about.

The first one was awesome. I am not a fan of horror, but that game did it well and really did a good job of level design using many parts of the ship in different ways.

The second one was a boring, linear corridor shooter that had the protagonist yelling [censored], [censored], [censored] constantly like a [censored]. The characters are... boring, the story has lots of plot holes and the ending makes no sense. The worst part was the substituion of subtle creepiness with intense glare and static that made my ears bleed (well not literally). I got it for cheap when they dropped they announced the PC version would not receive any DLC... the pc version plummeted in price right after that. A very unsatisfying experience.

The third will probably be even worse. I will not even consider buying, especially sense they are trying to add to the MP features that NO ONE used in the second. Great use of time and resources. I guess EVERY game has to have cover and MP now.

System Shock 2 did it. :P

But yeah I see your point. I doubt most people played through SS2 with a friend, and I doubt those who did will have found the experience as scary as playing alone.

Yes, and although the scare factor was turned down a bit by the combined sense of security me and my brothers felt by having eachother around, I would like to point out that it was still very creepy and unnerving.
