so no direct sequel to crysis?

Post » Sat Aug 28, 2010 9:26 pm

I don't know about anyone else, but I liked the platoon from the original crysis and was looking forward to being back on the island with psycho. I am hoping that this "many years later, in the city" direction is only for this game, because I liked the characters in the original, and the ending made great headway for a sequel back on the island. In my opinion, it would have been nice to stick to what you started with crytek.

This was discussed since the revival of Crysis and My crysis.com, it's supposed to be a whole new experience now. And they're aiming for a wider range of gamers to try Crysis out, such as the console crowd. :)

Chris touches on this in ep1 of C2TV at around the 3:50 mark.

Also, have a listen to this interview Nathan is giving to GT in regards to how Crytek are translating the tropical jungle into the urban jungle:

Fast forward to 5:10

In regards to Crysis 1's storyline, i can't remember which video it'd be in but it's been said that some of the unanswered questions from C1 will be filled in during C2. People that are new to the Crysis universe don't necessarily need to know what happened during C1 to enjoy C2 but for those who have played C1, some questions will be answered during C2. :)

Or...just another option I'm throwing out there...anyone who buys Crysis 2 is forced to buy Crysis 1. That way the player gets more story and Crytek makes more MO-NAY! Everyone wins! =D

Back to reality: Isn't Richard Morgan also writing a comic bridging the events between 1 and 2? I was reminded of it in another thread and didn't know if it was confirmed or not.

Although I'd like to have C2 start with me as Nomad in a Vtol going back to the island, I doubt its going to happen.

However, Crytek better explain WHAT happens because I've been waiting for an answer for almost 3 years now.

And it better not be lame like "and then they all died" cop-out. I'd like a REAL, believable explanation. Have nomad do a cameo, w.e.

And we've seen prophet in a trailer for C2, so he should make an appearance... so how'd he get back. No teleporter hax plz.

Forcing people to buy two games would lose alot of sales. It would all together cost about 100 dollars per purchase. Plus the console users wouldnt benefit in this at all, since crysis will not run on the current generation of consoles. A better way to give each player the story is to have a bundle for sale that includes the upcomic comic or novel that explains crysis 1's connection to crysis 2, or a small book explaining the events of crysis 1.

1st of all, Crysis 1 now costs around $16. And if the usual release price of a new game is around $50-60. So more like around $70 for both. But still, Crysis 2 will be worth the price.

i would buy those, since youd be getting better framerates, graphics and A.I etc, and PC games arnt hellishly expensive, especially if they sold an "Ultimate Edition" with Crysis, Warhead, Wars, and Crysis 2 all on cryengine 3.

although my girlfriend and family would sufffer neglect for a whole weekend while i played through it all in one go just to experiance how awesome it was

Luckily Black Ops was too much of a let down for that to happen this time round....

anyway back on topic, presuming crysis 3 is made, it would make a good conclusion to the series if you played as prophet, and had (infrequent) playable flashbacks to what actually happened when he got kidnapped and after they returned. i have a feeling crytek might have stuck that four year storyline gap in the game for a reason... hmmmmmm.....

Prophet is good a character to play with yes... but that shouldn't mean that he's the only one you can choose to use, add a bit more of selection to the game (if ever, for Crysis 3) .

i prefer sticking to one player only, as it really lets you get into "the zone" when you play.
switching characters makes the storyline feel slightly erratic to me....
but thats just my opinion and wouldnt mind either way

I think from a really early inteview with someone at Crytek they said that using tactical mode you could listen in to the crynet soldiers conversations and that they would be hints to what happened back at the island. also something about finding newspapers which also give you hints what happened. And an awnser to someones question about the comic yes i think it was confirmed a comic was being made about what happened between C1&2

Its all based on surveys and random/specific research from their fans, players and community. Who knows, what you post here - might be in the coming Crysis...

hmmm, I am still wondering even now what they aliens might have done to prophet while they had him kidnapped, his suit was malfunctioning when he got back.
And he was mightily pissed at em thats for sure lol.

Prophet might go psycho in Crysis 2 for the new Alien's sake. Revenge can be devastating.
