Disappointed a little with argonian aquatic traits.

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 12:39 pm

I enjoyed playing as an argonian, however, I have always disappointed with limits of water in the game. While the argonian race can breathe underwater, it isn't a very unique trait seeing as there is spell, potion and dragon mask that allows you to do the same. I wish that when I play as the "aquatic" argonians: I can see much clearly underwater, can engage in combat while underwater (even if I could fight with only a dagger or even only fists I would still be happy) and finally be able to be more stealthy while swimming (for all the races).
I would like to hear your opinion on this.

Thank you for your time.

I am annoyed that when your an argonian and you have been under the water for a while you still hear a gasp for breath when you resurface. Surely that would never happen.

The khajiit have night vision, and can use without compromising stealth and have good unarmed combat skill. I have never played dunmer, so I have no experience with them.

I just started playing an Argonian, and the underwater breathing is a lot more convenient for me since I don't use spells very often, and I never seem to have a water breathing potion when I need it.

Personally, I'd like to see an Argonian be able to attack with its claws underwater (not that there's a whole lot to attack other than the occasional slaughterfish), but I'd really love it if they could swim much faster than other races. I kind of always thought an Argonian would swim more like a crocodile than a frog, and be rather agile.

Dunmer are very high in fire resistance(ideal for vampires) are high in magic and are steathly.

Realistically, argonians would have to convert from gills to lungs when surfacing so they would have to inhale air.

I'm continually disappointed by lackluster racial differences. How interesting would it be if race drastically altered things to the point where fighting npcs of x race felt very different from an npc of another race?

True but you could have a stealth or normal attack where you drag victims into the water to kill.

Khajiit have Night Eye. Which, can only be acquired by being a Vampire(if you're not a Kitty cat)

That's creepy. And awesome. Creepy-awesome. (Is there a word for such a concept? There should be.) I miss being able to fight underwater. You think a character could at least pull out a dagger. That would certainly work underwater. Oblivion always scared me, guaranteed, with any combination of underwater and caves. And I hate slaughterfish. (A particular horse will attack those things and it is both funny and annoying.)

I guess because there's so few underwater enemies.

For example, would you believe that I'm at about 100 hours on my main character, and I've never once seen a slaughterfish?

Oooooh... I hope the next installment(in the near future hopefully) will include stealth attacks where you drown them. c:

yea i never really chose the argonians for their traits more for the fact that they looked bad ass. but having poison and disease resistance and being able to breathe underwater is rather nifty even though the latter is underdevoloped.

Kind of svcks that we don't have water combat, and I hate how we don't have immunity to poison anymore(I mean seriously?). But look at the bright side..

We have Histskin. One of the best daily powers in the game.

I would love for Argonians to be able to see clearly under water. That makes sense to me.

This would be great as well.

It seems to me that choosing a race mainly (but not completely) boils down to cosmetics. In, TES all races had their weaknesses as well as strengths and you had to take that into account. I used to spend so much time deciding on my race, but now I ask myself, "Will I use magic, mkay, Breton." and if not Orc, just because I like the way the females look.

Perhaps if there was more on the ocean floor than clams there would be a reason to go underwater... There were multiple cases of Underwater locations in OB that were made much easier just by being a Raptor-Folk

Khajiit and Dark Elves don't have unique traits either.

Hell, all the traits kinda svck.

High Elf, Breton and Orc are the only ones with racials that really jump out as being universally useful, since their racials are constant/really powerful. The others are all things you might never bother using.

What? Histskin is an amazing ability. Plus the fact that its boosted by the Regeneration perk, and other Restoration boosts.

Khajiit and Dark Elves don't have unique traits either.

Khajiit are the only race in the game with a version of Nighteye, plus they have a huge default unarmed boost.

As for Dark Elves.. I see your point. Their ability is just a flame cloak that you can only use once a day.
