DLC Exclusive. Discussion Still Going

Post » Fri Jan 07, 2011 8:53 am

Well here we are again at number 5. Wow it must be the fastest filling topic I've ever seen.

Anyway here are all the previous threads:

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1121846-dlc-exclusive/

I want everyone to be clear on two things from the release that went out.

1) All we announced is that the first DLC will be exclusive to Xbox LIVE. It'll be available this holiday season through Xbox LIVE.
2) More details about plans for additional content will be released in the coming weeks.

Beyond that, I don't have any information to share. Again, we'll share more info in the coming weeks.

So here we go again.

I hope they do release DLC for all 3 consoles I don't like the fact that the PS3 and the PC got shafted. If it is true that Microsoft paid off Bethesda (Which this is rumor until proven otherwise) then someone has some explaining to do.

DLC will most likely be released for all platforms in the future for those wondering.

If your buddy and "the new guy" both asked you for some exclusive DLC content would you be more inclined to help out "the new guy" or your long-time pal that owns your lead platform?

I'm sure there are publishers supporting the same title across multiple platforms, I just can't think of a good example. S'probably something like Guitar Hero content released for all platforms all at the same time or something, but I reckon it happens.

Knowing today's community of gamers, I'd be sticking to my guns and telling the big jock with all the cash to take a running jump off a high cliff, and that the consumers come first, not the corporate hardware battle. Microsoft is so consumed with being first for everything it's known as the company that shot itself in the foot in that hardware battle, by releasing faulty goods just to get a running start. That worked out well for them, when its Japanese rival arrived with fully functioning hardware and a control method out of the clear blue sky. I wouldn't adopt Microsoft's way of doing things if I was a publisher, and I'd bring up their console launch debacle everytime they asked me to. :)

Consumers come first. We're committed to multiple platforms, our consumers deserve the same support. <-- "Mantra!"

The ONLY thing I care about with the whole DLC thing is in the same time-frame it was revealed NV would be released on Thursday for Australians (The 21st) and yet steam went from the 19th to BAM the 22nd so 360 can have the early DLC, I just want the game lol

We only have one way If you own two console's GET THE GAME FOR THE PS3 if we can prove that this timed DLC release dosen't work. Then they will stop doing it.

Bethesda had their games on the PC, Xbox and Xbox 360 before any Sony console.

They had their games on the PC WAY before any Microsoft console, and look at who's not getting DLC.

thanks Bethesda you let another fan down

Your post reminds me to point out to those saying "no big deal" that when the PS3 version of Oblivion never received DLC, it's something I got over, thinking it was only for the special case of PS3-Xbox-Oblivion release dates being jumbled up. Then, when we had to wait nearly a year for Fallout 3 DLC that caused constant lagging/freezing and still never got a patch or even acknowledgement, I got over it, thinking Bethesda would change their plan. They pulled this crap again, and keep in mind that Oblivion and Fallout 3 are my two top favorite games of all time, followed by another Elder Scrolls game, and this time, Bethesda forgot their pal of an even greater time than the Xbox, the PC. Now, it's a big deal. It's a big deal because some of us, who have been devoted Bethesda fans for quite some time, have had to put up with this for three major Bethesda releases, and now, even PC players, the group Bethesda has catered to since 1986, since 16 years before they even released a game for the Xbox, are suffering this crap.

It's the consolewar between Sony and M$. EcksBawks sales must rise and what would be better way to influence that than something exclusive for the bawks version of one of the most anticipated games of the year.

Yeah, if the sales for the PS3 outweigh that for 360 then maybe Bethesda will reconsider and stop the stupid exclusivity agreement.

I'm sure New Vegas will still be fresh by the time the DLC comes out across all platforms, I'm on xbox but I probably won't get it for awhile.

well, you see, I'm not sure about this, but it seems MS really wants to vex Sony for some reason. and since MS lacks the first party exclusive clout that Sony has, they throw money at third parties to give them any kind of edge they can get.

Typically thats timed exclusive DLC. Whatever. I really just hope it's only the first DLC. I mean, honestly, favoring one customer over the other is bad business, and a LOT of gamers, from all fields, are tired of this horrible, cheap business tactic.

Regal Crown Club Card?

LOL. No, its just a quote from the Sopranos. Its said at a Jewish wedding after some goons steal all of the foreign cars, leaving the American ones. It was merely a joke to mirror some of the sentiments perhaps felt by 360 owners now, after trudging along and sticking it out through the 360's hardware troubles.

Honestly I would have to see what the DLC exclusive is going to be. If its like what some are wanting where it adds in Area 51 or a new large location then I would be upset over it. Personally I think I might do like I did with FO3 and just wait with the hopes of all DLC`s being included with New Vegas GOTY edition. Being on PC I like hard copies of my games and yes I know one could burn a copy of their downloaded game but I dont see the point in wasting my time just to burn a copy.

Since it seems bethesda only cares about the dollar and not the gamer, I will be speaking the only language they seem to understand and not spend my $60 on their product. Now if only more people would do the same, things might change.

What?
PS3 has their fair share of exclusive pay-offs too.

I am very excited for New Vegas and I am putting aside the DLC worries. However, I am a PS3 owner and if New Vegas (PS3 version) has a noticably more amount of bugs, glitches, etc; I will call Bethesda and speak to them myselves. If they choose not to then they will fall under the Sale of Goods Act 1979 in section 14(2) - which defines satisfactory quality; and from there we will see if they will at least apologize because in all honesty thats all most of us would ever want. If they choose not to, thats there choice and they will have to switch out one of their release date parties for a court date.

But I hope none of that will happen, I am putting trust in Bethesda; and I hope to praise them well and give them the big thumbs up when New Vegas is in my Playstation 3 tommorow.

I'm sure more people will, but it is a hard decision to make to give up on a full game over a DLC for it. :P

Even if, by some random chance, Bethesda ever changed their mind, then 360 players would suffer, right? What does it take to get some equality?
