Does some dunmer males have gravelly voices?

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 2:10 am

Seen streams, heard reports. Nothing on numbers or ratio of gravelly to non-smoking.
Remember to discount anything from any of the earlier demos though (including PAX).

Some have the raspy voice and some don't.
Thank you very much for the good news! :) You made me more exited for Skyrim.

I'm just tired of everyone TRYING to find something they dont like, We've seen a minuscule amount of footage and people are already "worried" when they haven't even come close to playing the game. I'm so excited about this game but I wanna find something I don't like so I can talk about it. BORING!

I don't think its quite fair to say everyone is "trying" to find things. If they do find something though they will bring it up as it is a forum. Just don't let it bother you man. The game is so close you can taste it.

The dunmer voices were not "gravelly" in Morrowind, the were cigarette tar-wracked. They sounded like they smoked two whole cartons a day and were on the verge of hacking up a tarball that comprises what remains of their lungs. I couldn't stand them.

I also couldn't stand the... hmm... "cheery" voices of the Oblivion male dunmers.

Can't there be a happy medium? :(

Well that's what happens when all you inhale is volcanic ash.

Anyway, let's not forget that Bethesda has over 70 voice actors this time around vs. Oblivion's 11(?) so there will be large voice variations. I just hope the Oblivion Dunmer voice isn't back though.

I know at least one Dunmer is voiced by Keith Szarabajka; Fallout New Vegas's Burned Man; Mass Effect 2's Harbinger, and he sounds absolutely perfect.

If this is for real... this is pure awesome. :D

His voice is a prime example of true gravelly-ness. Not the Morrowind dunmer.

Well, maybe not terrible, but he wasn't very good if you ask me. He sounded bored and he's voice didn't have much emotion in it.

Does anyone else want Ron Perlman to be a voice actor?

Athis doesn't have the Morrowind gravel, but pretty decent vo for a dunmer. Much better than in oblivion.

There are enough voice actors this item around that not every member of each race has the same voice anymore. I'm sure there will be some Dunmer with gravely voices.

I prefer the Morrowind voice, but I can deal as long as it sounds nothing like Oblivion.

I've up to this point, seen four Dunmer males and one Dunmer female. Dunmer females, of course, don't have or never had a gravelly voice. All the other males (Companions, random wandering Dunmer, Arvel, and some misc. bandit) sounded somewhat British. Companion's Guild Dunmer had the most gravelly of the four, but definitely not anything like Morrowind. I guess I'll find out for the rest when I get my copy on the 11th.

Ive only heard the Companion's Guild Dunmer, and was slightly surprised by how they sounded. I had to pause the video to check they were actually a Dunmer, and not just a weird-looking human.

You know Morrowind (the first game which spawned the Dunmer having gravely voices trend) had about...what, 12 voice actors? Bethesda was on the verge of being broke when that game came out. I honestly don't think they intended for all male Dunmer to have such gravely voices, they simply didn't have enough voice actors at their disposal.

I think the Dunmer females sound pretty darn scary. Just as a comparison to the males.
