Does some dunmer males have gravelly voices?

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 7:31 pm

I have seen some amount of leaked footage and have seen two dunmer male NPC's. Neither of them had gravelly voices, so this is starting to worry me.
To all of you who have seen more leaked footage than me/played the game already, have you seen dunmer males that have gravelly voices?

Arvel (the dunmer stuck on spider web) had a gravelly voice in the demo, but no, they changed he's voice to a normal voice. WTH Bethesda?! Why?!
And the worst part is that he's voice actor is TERRIBLE!!

I've heard Bethesda removed the rough voice of the male Dunmers from Skyrim. It was rough in an earlier build (i.e. E3; Aviel the Swift), but now, it's not.

Are you seriously trying to complain about one race not having a gravely voice? Yeeesh...can't please everyone I guess, especially when their expectations are ridiculous.

I noticed that too, the voice actors in the Demo were better. The new ones seem way too modern.

this is something a bit disappointing to fans though. A lot of us fell in love with the raspy gritty voices from Morrowind and according to lore they should sound that way. It doesn't mean "OMG PREORDER CANCELLED!" but they have a right to disapprove and complaining about complainers is against the rules.

I'm just tired of everyone TRYING to find something they dont like, We've seen a minuscule amount of footage and people are already "worried" when they haven't even come close to playing the game. I'm so excited about this game but I wanna find something I don't like so I can talk about it. BORING!

God damnit :( That's a big disappointment for me.

Well, atleast they got their looks right this time.

I'm sorry that we don't have the same opinions about this

They didn't have rough voices for Dunmer, SOME had raspy voices.
I was playing at PAX and came across two Dunmers going on a pilgrimage to Azuras shrine, one has a raspy voice and the other didn't.
We knew the voices in the demo were place holders anyway.

We have only seen 2 Dunmers, Its quite possible more have raspy voices.
Hell, maybe the Dunmers who were born in Skyrim have normal voices, I was watching some footage too and a Dunmer in the Companions had a mixure of a Nordic and Dunmeri voice.

An interesting combo, if it was from the final game...

From what I've heard, and that's only two or three npcs, the gravel is gone. BigGrizz, it's disappointing because it was an element of the previous games that was removed last minute from Oblivion, due to technical limitations, and many fans wanted it to return in Skyrim. If Argonians and Khajit can have their own voice set, why not bring back the distinctive Dunmer voices?

The footage I was watching was from the final game, with 6 days from release I doubt they are going to change it or have changed it.

(I'm not sure if you were trying to be smart with the ellipsis, if you weren't no problem.)

Nope. Wasn't sure if you were referring to the final release or the PAX demo (which had a different Arvel voice from the E3 demo and, it sounds like, from the final release).

Thank you for this post! :icecream: :foodndrink:
There might still be dunmer males with gravelly voices :)

Maybe I'm a little bit overreacting about dunmer male voices, but I love dunmers and want them to be perfect (as I see it).

I met the 2 Dunmers going to the shrine at PAX and I seen the Dunmer from the Companions Guild in footage, So I'm pretty sure that was half raspy.

No, but enough to see that there are quite a few things both good and bad about the game. Most of the bad had to do with the bugs and glitches, which can hopefully be fixed with a patch.

Not sure the PAX footage counts as it seems the voices were changed again between that and final release.

I have seen that dunmer too. He definitely had a mixture of nordic and dunmeri voice.

Whining... stop it. Stop nitpicking one thing... coming to the forum... and crying your eyes out about it... please.
Stop whining about whining. People can talk freely about their opinioins.
Nowhere in here reads, that we have to praise Skyrim, like it's going to be perfect.

Well if some have it and some don't that is great for me. Helps me distinguish which are native Dunmer and which are outlander Dunmer. I actually would prefer the mix. If none have it I will be disappointed, yet again in a small feature. The rest of the game waaay more than makes up for it but I am noticing quite a few small things I don't like. But thats just me lol.

Seen streams, heard reports. Nothing on numbers or ratio of gravelly to non-smoking.
