uesp says it doesn't - is that a glitch to be fixed or just a big hoax?

Unfortunately it does not. Only use is to disenchant the weapons for use in enchanting.

The forge works fine. You can forge any armor or weapons there that you forge at any other normal forge.

The forge works but things don't get the Lunar Forge Enchantment. But you can DE an item and get it from Enchanting.

But you cannot, as the original poster meant, smith any sort of lunar weapon.

Spoiler
There are rumours, which say that one can create enchanted weapons at this forge and only at midnight while the two moons are out. An event, which is said to happen every 3 days.

I have not tried it yet. Might just be a good hoax.

I can tell you from extensive testing. (ie actually waiting for 2 months in 24 hr intervals) It does NOT work.

This is how it works.
Spoiler
next to the forge it should be a book, If you read it it will say every 3 days when the two moons are above the forge it will add a lunar effect.

I guess this is a great idea for a Lunar Forge mod. Anyone with me?

Would be cool to have it be unique, like the Skyforge.
When I found it and read the book I was happy I found a unique forge, but meh.
I guess Beth forgot about it, or was intending to do more with it. Or something else.

Probably something else.

When the moon shines in to the forge it will add a Lunar spell effect. so yes it works that many people fail with the timing.

Oh really?!

I find it doubtful as the guy above tested for 2 months in game without any success. Plus it would have been made a video of on Youtube, and probably even gaming sites would pick it up and run with it on a slow news day. (Pretty much every other day if you see the crap IGN posts daily llooll)

No, it will not.
The test I done actually was conducted every night. With one full moon, two full moons and even with both full moons while they were in line. If it didn't work then....well I don't know what to tell you.

Did I say anything about spelling? I bolded it to get the point across that what you posted is a rumor.

You can test it for a year and still fail. Fact is that on a cloudless night one can see the moon shine into the forge. I just have not yet tried and waited until both of them do it. Just waiting 24h for a few days does not guarantee that your timing will be right. Do look down into the pit and see that there are no shadows on the walls when both moons are out. Only then would I give up trying.

Anyhow, the topic should be in the spoiler section!

Every night at midnight for 60 days is proof enough for me.

EDIT : Besides there is not one single video of anyone ever doing it.

I'm pretty sure it's a timing thing.I remember in Oblivion there was a similar thing for weapons, there was some sort of sacrificial table that every time the moon/moons where in full and at midnight you place a black soul gem and your weapon in it and you got a enchant like the lunar one in skyrim. This one took me for ever to get the timing right!!!!

probably because after you reach a certain level that enchant is pretty useless, seeing how you can add fire to your weapon and have no restrictions on when that fire works.

That was making Black Soul gems. The effect lasted for 24hrs. That worked once a month. This doesn't work at all.

EDIT : /snip

I'll just have to try for myself, but the enchant is pretty useless after your enchant list develops over time.

Yeah, it doesn't work. Funny thing is, I cleared that place early on, and thought I had forged at least one weapon there - but in fact the durn thing just produces normal weapons. Weird.
