if you are considering a pure assassin build, read my topic :

Daggers destroy in stealth, I do x30 dmg with those special gloves. I switch to my sword and shield when out of stealth. Daggers are for cutting throats, would be cool if they were the only weapon you could use under water too..

I thought daggers were supposed to be fast, and so I thought dual wielding them would be godly, but you can only attack one at a time, what a waste!

There is a dragon shout that increases the attack rate drastically.

All I can say is that my (legendary) Blade of Woe drops people like nobody's business. It does 66,but I use the Ebony Axe,because I have the bleed damage "Hack and Slash" completely maxed out,I do switch to the Blade of woe when I enter cities at night,so I can go about assasinating guards for steel arrows...I am currently at 1479 steel arrows...

It depends on how you sneak attack.
If you hold both buttons down, it will slice 3 times (dagger, sword, dagger).
I'm guessing your dagger will do x15 damage, and your sword will do x6 damage, then your dagger will do x15 damage.

So what you are saying is that your Dagger COULD be used as a normal weapon?

This might be because you are either using regular swing with one dagger or power attack with one dagger. You really should use, at all tmes, either Dual Attack with both daggers (both mouse buttons) or Dual Power Attack with Daggers (Hold both mouse keys). As soon as you start playing like that, daggers start doing a ton more damage. Also, it just takes a bit practice to lure multiple enemies out. For example, If you have multiple guys that are standing together, just shoot your arrow once, on the ground preferably because hitting the enemy opens up the sneak eye more then not hitting them, then let them come towards your direction to search. Before they reach you the eye should be closed. So while you re-gain hidden status, start approaching the last guy from behind and take him out. Rinse and repeat.

If that doesn't work and you get detected, just sprint towards opposite direction and hide until you are hidden again. Low level play as a dagger/dagger assassin has to play like this to be viable until you get higher. Or alternatively, just use your bow more.

As above, its a rare thing that enemy stays alive if you execute back-stab properly, sometimes enemy has like 5% of life left which isn't a problem, use two buttons simultaneously is a must.
Also shooting arrows in the walls to make noise and lure enemy helps a lot. I have no problem killing stuff and I'm only lvl 21.

Dragons need to be ranged though...

Yes, it works perfectly fine my main build is a dual wielding dagger user, with illusion & conjuration. While daggers have lower damage, you can chain together multiple power attacks in the same time as one power attack with axes, swords or maces.Dual wielding allows you to max damage ouput and go for the fast kill. with high stealth levels you can instagib most of the weaker opponents early on in chain stealth kills without having to use shadow warrior or the reward from nocturnal. This is on master level, at level 30, while not abusing the smithing/enchanting. Like any other playstyle the key is to play smart. If you run into a room of 6-8 enemies you will struggle, pick off a few of the roamers, then go back and finish the others. The only real issue is your squishy, without enchants to boost health early on, so you have to be careful of some mobs. With conjuration though you can have pets to tank for you as needed, or use illusion to make enemies run away or turn on each other, or calm them so they wont attack.

2 daggers is great for backstabbing, but the greatness seems to start and stop there. usually, I'll use my bow to sneak and take out enemies when there's a few of them in a room together, then backstab the last man standing. But, if I don't kill em, I just switch to a 1h sword for the rest of the fight and that seems to work fine for me.

It could work but I have no idea why the hell any proper assassin would forsake the bow...............

Train daggers but bow too , thats what a proper assassin would do
