I don't understand the demand for DLC so soon.

Post » Thu Jul 26, 2012 1:43 am

I find it silly. The next ES won't be out for at least 4 years, so why blow your DLC wad so fast. I would much rather have new content released for a good chunk of the games lifespan rather then everything out the door in a year, or less. Maybe I'm just old, and not part of this generation who seem to need instant gratification.

This has nothing to do about the timed exclusives though. I think they svck, but that's capitalism. Don't like it move to a communist country.

I don't see any demand, just people talking about ideas.

Neither do I - I'm still yet to explore all of the vanilla content. I'm excited for Dawnguard, but if it doesn't arrive until December or something, I wouldn't really care.

I think he's referring to MetalGod's thread.

Oh this is about Dawnguard? If that's the case, I can understand all of the fuss.

So soon? Come on, Skyrim has been out for like 8 months and for people who bought it at release and loved it and played it have already pretty much done everything and want something fresh. It's nothing to do with instant gratification - the whole game in general caters to the instant gratification console crowd, but not the DLC release dates.

People probably were asking for expansion packs back when Morrowind was new. Asking for new content is nothing new at all.

I don't understand how you could possibly be posting something like this. You talk as though this will be the only DLC to be made. In fact, we probably have 3 or 4 DLC's in total to be released due to the popularity and demand of additional content these days.

Besides, the Xbox is already guinea pigging the DLC so the rest of us will get to play with a working product. Thanks guys! So, why not ponder, ask, or demand something that is already in the works? It's only a game. A game that a ton of people enjoy. What's wrong with wanting more?

I'm just upset that Beth is procrastinating on giving us the content when there is no need to. I'm not really demanding dlc #2

I could understand if this was COD, or AC where there is a new game every year.

Are you kidding me? Why demand new content when you get a new game every year. We will wait several years before getting TES6

I don't understand how asking for new content is suddenly a new idea among TES fans... Shall I present to thee the giant amount of demand for werewolves back in the Oblivion days? Just because a game series isn't getting a new release every year doesn't mean the fans are more patient with DLC. DLC isn't even new. It used to be for free more often than not until the 360 came out. Expansion packs were the paid new game content before the 360's Xbox Live marketplace.

Like I mentioned before there were dozens of people asking "where's the DLC only a few months after release, or others who whine about how long they have been waiting. I could of waited a year for the first piece of DLC. Maybe I'm just hoping that they will keep Skyrim somewhat fresh even 2 years from now.

2 years seems like an unreasonable amount of time. I'd rather they be hard at work on TES6 or at least FO4

This is true. Before Dawnguard many people were posting "Why don't we have a DLC announcement yet?!" and "It's been x months! We NEED DLC!"

Many people who have gotten into this series through Skyrim, as far as I can tell, are used to day one DLC. Before anyone brings out that torch, I am just giving an educated guess. Or uneducated guess. Whichever makes more sense.

Why push DLC to like once a year and not like every six months or whatever it is? In 3 or 4 years most people would have moved on to other games. The faster DLC comes out the longer people will stay Intrested. Them adding DLC isn't going to hinder your vanilla game. Either don't download it or ignore the quest it adds.

I'm not insulting you. Most of the people in my area who learned about the series from Skyrim were either only aware of that arrow to the knee joke or more or less used to games that give DLC earlier. That's all.
