Dragon attacks in cities

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 6:32 pm

Whiterun, Rifton, Solitude, Whindhelm, Markarth are the towns I've been attacked in, and it seems to happen more often when I fast travel so I started walking/running every where but if I'm in a rush I will get to the nearest town with a cart. Ever since I stopped fast traveling the attacks on towns has dropped to almost never, even the towns that are exposed like Riverwood hardly ever get attacked now.( Could be that I haven't gotten very far in the MQ with this toon though )

I've encountered dragons at least twice in every city, yet not a single citizen has ever died during a dragon attack. The dragons always seem to focus their attacks on me and not on the city folk, but even when I see guards, shopkeepers, farmers, etc get a face full of dragon breath they always seem tough enough to take it and to live to fight another day.

With my 404 Hours (Don't know the real time as I have left it in game for hours, even half days a lot) I have never seen a Dragon inside a walled city

(Yeah unemployment gives a lot of free time, when not making applications and spending time at job interviews. Had enough time to gaming, friends, my hobbies (cars) and ladies without that [censored])

With over 500 hours played i've never had a dragon attack while in a city. But it can happen.

Close to 800 hrs, and I haven't had it happen inside a walled city. Morthal, Falkreath, and Winterhold? Many times, including on top of the College, but never inside city walls.

They do attack in cities as said.

Be careful, blacksmiths and other merchants are quite squishy. I have lost a blacksmith in riverwood and riften.

It is unfortunate that no related npcs take up the family business- as was told in the game peeks before release.

I have been attacked by dragons in every town in this game.

To the point now that I won't Fast Travel to a city or town ever again, unless I save first. Then I will reload if I see a dragon, go somewhere else, fight the thing, then go to the town I was going to in the first place.

I almost never fast travel, unless it's because I've had problems with mods or something similar that resulted in me having to reload and make the same journey more than once, or I will FT to a location a short walk away if I need it to "fix" something (like followers that have lost track of me temporarily).

But even then I never, ever, ever fast travel to the interior of a city. Going to an open one usually lands you on the outskirts anyway, but if I'm going to a walled one I just FT to the stables. I just won't risk it, too many times where FT or even too many carriage rides in a short time have "summoned" a dragon to my new location.

yup. Markarth solitude and windhelm are not that rare at all. Thats a lot of hours not to have seen it. Surprising.

Well in my game dragons are a myth (apart from the ones whose appearance is guaranteed), so not seeing that doesn't really surprise me. I want more frequent dragons attacks, dammit! :swear:

I go for long stretches also sometimes. May be more frequent after the mq is done.

The most numerous dragon attacks in a city have occurred (for me) in Winterhold, followed closely by Falkreath. Seen a few in Riften, but they're usually outside the gates. Have never seen one in Whiterun, Solitude or Makarth (and you don't want to know how many hours an old man can put into a game like this.)

I think the most commonly attacked settlement is Riverwood, if you FT to it, it's almost guaranteed.
